Quick ?.. do you have to prefill the cartomizer first before using it? I know some said earlier in this thread that they don't but initially shouldn't the cartomizer be fully wet with eliquid so it doesn't burn the batting? Or do you just 'squonk' and fill it that way first? Also, once the carto gets low on ejuice, then that is when u just squeeze the bottle to get it nice n wet again? Sorry for all the questions, just want to get this straight before I decide on what to get.. Also, if I wanted to try a different flavor without changing out the bottle on the mini, then it is simply just popping on a prefilled cartomizer with the new eliquid I want to vape and just not 'squonk' right? Thanks in advance for any replies..

Hi Bombtrack :)
I'm not a carto user...but from what I understand you do not need to prefil...just squonk and vape like you would an atty...just maybe a little more juice. Not everyone does this though. Some people prefil. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...y-dont-need-fill-cartos-before-using-reo.html
Yes, when it gets low, you just squonk again, like you would with an atty.
Yes, if you want to try a new flavor, you can prefil a carto with that new flavor and put it on the REO, just don't squonk or you will end up mixing the two flavors.

I started with 306 LR atty's on the REO's (never liked the 510 atty much), always the higher-end ones from Cisco or Ikenvape. I was marginally happy with them - sometimes they'd taste burnt and I'd have to de-wick them. Sometimes I'd get a good one that would last a month, and another one might last a day or two. I gave cartos another try last summer and haven't looked back. I really like the shorty 1.7 Smoktech ones, they're perfect for a bottom-feeder. The only complaint I have is consistency - a good one will last me a week or more, and a bad one may only last me a day or two. But at least they're cheap, and require no maintenance. When the rebuildable atty is available, my intention is to switch to that.

I have to agree.... I started my reo with CISCO 306 attys. They vape great for 2 weeks or so, and after 4 or 5 Squonk bottles have run thru them they start tasting burnt.

So I pulled out my old Bogue 2.0 ohm cartos....WOW!

I will be trying the smoketech 1.7 shorties next. Although they are a bit more expensive. If I could afford the grand VV mod right now I would stick with my Bogues only because they vape so good on a Reo.

And the funny thing...on my Buzzpro a carto would plug up after only 1 or 2 3ml tanks and the draw would tighten up to the point where it was like sucking thru a collapsed straw, but on the Reo I get about 3 -5 days from a carto before it tastes burnt. But the draw stays the same!

I prefill only to ensure the batting is nice and wet from top to bottom. But if you use the condom method to fill your cartos then you basically do the same as using your REO to squonk fill (fill from bottom up).

Thats because with a carto tank the carto is always saturated or even over saturated.
This causes the filler to swell up too much and it constricts the air flow channel.

With the REO you are in charge of when and how much juice you put into it and can always keep it at the perfect level.

Cartos on REOs last longer than either carto tanks or plain carto with topping off. The wet to dry and repeat of topping off a carto several times isn't good for them either.

Rob didn't know it at the time but he built the prefect carto mod ...... if you into that kind of thing.

Coming from someone who has used several hundred Boge cartomizers on REOs and both pre-filled and squonk filled.

The pre-fill always made my cartos last longer. The squonk fill worked and it took me a month or so before I realized they were tasting like crap a few days sooner than they should. I went back to pre-filling and things were great again.

Everyone is different though, some swear by the squonk fill method.

Its not a big deal to pre fill it takes me 2 minutes tops. I leave the bottom condom on and drop 10 drops on top.
Put my lips to the carto (seal your lips around) and blow hard .... it forces the juice into the filler. 10 more drops and blow again and your done.
Remove the bottom condom and screw on, squonk once and fire her off for the first time.
(I may have overestimated make that 1 minute to pre-fill)

Cool, we've been here my whole life but a relocation is in our future soon when my wife becomes a nurse practitioner.
I would like to go west to AZ or NV something like that. But my family is all on the east coast from NY to FL so we will see.

Anyone try using an AVA atomizer on a REO? I can't even find anyone with them in stock.

I have one. It's not likely to go back on any of my feeders. My feeders are all about consistency and performance. the AVA gave me some performance and little consistency. Mine behaved like this: Three maybe 4 really good flavorful drags with top notch flavor and thick warm vapor, then a drag or two that were sub-par or worse, then three or four really good drags and suddenly another really bad one - and so on and so forth. That was the "bottom feeder edition" AVA. The sealed bottom AVA was pretty much the same but if I took a hard enough primer drag before taking a couple of vapes, it did exhibit a little bit better behavior. I killed the sealed bottom one in about 3 weeks dripping 2-3 hours a day. I tossed it. The open post one is still running and I have it on a tube mod as a dripper. It's inconsistent. Just because you can hear juice in it when you vape doesn't mean any juice will actually get to the coil. I'm looking forward to a version2.
