Couple atomizer questions,

1) Why can't I buy a pre-broken in atomizer? I dread this process.

2) I just received my new batch of atomizers, noticed that 3 / 5 are a pretty tight to screw in and don't quite fit all the way down--I don't want to ruin the thread on my Provari. Anyone else experience this? (These atomizers I bought from provape.com). The atomizer still makes a connection but doesn't quite fit all the way to the bottom. I'm concerned that the occasional leak could spill into connector compartment.

1) Quick answer, same reason you can't buy a broken in pair of shoes or jeans....:)
(unless they are second-hand)

2) You attys not bottoming out should not be an issue, as long as they make contact.
Over-tightening can cause damage, but any juice drips can be easily cleaned with
a damp paper towel. The connector is sealed and the juice won't leak into the electronics.
It's a good idea for regular maintenance to clean the connector regularly, a clean connection
makes your atty or carto work better.

Most won't screw in all the way, in fact, you don't want them to. Screw them in just enough to get electrical contact and a bit more to keep them from unscrewing.

Liquid in the connecter compartment is no big deal with a sealed battery. Remove the atty, stick a tissue in the female end and let it wick up.

With an automatic batt, you have a problem.

Screwing an atty/carto in too tight can move the connector and then not it might not make a connection. You then have to try to pull the connector back into the right place to make it work again, and it doesnt always pull back easy. So like others said, dont screw anything tighten than it needs to be, it just needs to make the connection

1) You don't want a worn out atomizer do you? I would hope not. I would rather break mine in myself, then I know what kind of abuse I've put them through.

2) Don't force it. It shouldn't screw all the way down. I know some do but some don't also. As for leaking, the ProVari has a sealed connector. If you're that OCD, do like me and get a sealed 510/510 adapter from madvapes.com. Keeps most juice out and away from your mod unless you're super messy.

The point is that some of them screw in deeper than others when applying the same amount of torque (and very little at that). I ordered 5 atomizers, 3 won't even screw in enough to make a connection. The Provari reads "OP" when checking the ohms level. I'm not going to apply more force, it's clear it doesn't want to budge.

One screws in enough to make a connection but still leaves a wider gap then I'm use to. My previous experience (which is little) has been that with little torque the atomizers would screw in all the way.

One in particular is so bad it won't even let me turn it 30 degrees. Is this common???

Edit:

In summary my batch of 5: 3 won't make a connection, 1 leaves a gap, 1 screws in all the way. :(

This is a huge failure rate--ugh, what's the "louis vuitton" of atomizers? Would be nice to find a manufacturer that actually did QA in their manufacturing process. You always hear about DOA atomizers too.. how is this acceptable? I would pay 2x the price for a standard.

where did you get them and what kind are they? That could be some QC issues. They shouldnt be like that

From provape.com: Joye510 Atomizer for Electronic Cigaratte.

Edit: Wow, these are Joye? I didn't realize that--the brand isn't advertised well on the site, only mentioned in the title bar. No wonder.

Oh, and I should mention. These are advertised as 2.8 ohm. Couple weeks ago I ordered two of them. After a week of use, for _both_ the ohms dropped to 2.0. Not sure if this is a sign of failure but not what I expected from a 2.8 ohm atomizer. I finally stopped using it when it read 1.8 (this is at the LR level!)

take this thread to the Provape forum and/or pm them or email them with these issues; something is not right obviously.

My first hunch is the Provari threads are off or have a glitch that a quick fix (advice from Provape) would handle, like a burr in the threads or something.

My favorite SR 510 Joye comes at 2.2 Ohms (note 2.2 has the widest range of voltage options for the Vari).
- the atty shouldn't drop so low so soon. Usually that much down is a sign of imminent failure. ( i believe they go up first with use, then down).
Were you vaping at high voltage? that might cause them to fail sooner... but that's kind of unusual.

btw, most PV vendors sell their attys at a higher markup than the best places to get good atty prices...i.e. Vapor Kings, or Value Vapor prices will make it poss. to buy a bunch of them.... because backups is the name of the game for all vaping necessities.
Attys will often last a serious dripper merely a week or two before performance drops or they die. Cleaning helps too.

btw; the Vari will give you an E2 error if the resistance is too low. I find it will take LR 1.7 up to 2.0 no problem. (at 3.3 to 4.3v or so). I assume when your HV atty read 1.8 it was not performing well though, and you'd have to lower the voltage a bit anyway.

I'm made great use of the WATT chart that I found on these forums so I'm aware making the correct voltage adjustments for the "best" vaping experience.

I did get the E2 reading when the atty dropped to 2.0 and I reduced the voltage to 3.7v

At 2.8ohm, I found vaping at 4.2v ideal. That's 6.3W vaping which seems to be perfect.

If I have to replace attys every week this is going to cost me more than my ex-smoking habit.

I did send an e-mail to provape.com; we'll see what they say. In the mean time, I also picked these up,

HR510 High Resistance Atomizer 3.0 ohm (Cisco Spec) - Avid Vaper

Sucks that one has to spend so much money to find a product that works. Thanks for the merchant links, I'll check them out. I really hope I find an atty that lasts longer than a week; otherwise, vaping is going to get very costly.

So, at vaperking I found:

Joye 510 2.2 ohm $4.65 each for 10:

Joye 510 or Joye eGo electronic cigarette replacement atomizers

$8.95 for 2.3 ohm (no bulk):

Joye 510 or Joye eGo electronic cigarette replacement atomizers

Is this a typo, are those actually 2.3 ohm? Why not sell those in bulk.

At Value Vapor I found,

Joye 510 ?? ohm, $6.99: (They don't include the stat, seems kinda important)

Joye 510 Atomizers [JOYE510 Atomizers] - $6.99 : ValueVapor.com, Discount Electronic Cigarettes and e-Liquid

Though, I hoping for a little higher ohm. So,

mad vapes has these:

510 Spare Atomizer 3.2 ohm $5.95:

510 Spare Atomizer 3.2 ohms

But holy .... if that doesn't sound cheap. What the hell am I buying? And, it's pretty close to my target ohm level...

Anyway, having a hard time finding a 2.5 - 3.2 ohm atty.

found this on google shopping,

Joye 510 2.6-2.8 ohm, $4.95

Joye-TNT 510 Electronic Cigarette Atomizer Black

But, who knows what you're getting? Are those good?? they don't appear to include that useless plastic plug. and they're pretty damn cheap at non-bulk prices.

I got the info about 2.2 and the Vari on the Provape site. Provari info; probably same one you mentioned?

You need a 510 to 901 adapter... they're only a few bucks ... the 901 is imo the best blend of factors: flavor, vapor and t/h.
Lots of flavor, good vapor and not so hot t/h, but t/h is there some.
I use both the LR 1.7 but mostly the SR 2.8 to 3.0.
Vari will handle most LR over 1.5 Ohms up to low 4.+ volts.
Funny thing about 901 SR having 2.8 Ohm as standard resistance (where the 510 and 306 are about 2.2 to 2.5 Ohms... because you can vape it at 3.5 to 3.8v and get great vaping. I usually go up to 4v only after a couple days of serious use.

ukeman, thanks for introducing me to the 901. I actually prefer less t/h and would love to avoid heat at all costs. This may be something that I will try, but we digress.

I tried an experiment. I have an Ego and all 5 of the attys screw in _perfectly_ to the very bottom of the Ego. :( I hope my Provari isn't defected. Even the one atty that will not fit at all into my Provari went into the Ego like a hot knife through butter.

yeah there you go...if so i think it should be something easy to deal with if that's the case, like a burr in the threads or something.
If you got it new, and you have to send it in for free warranty work, at least it's a fast turn around.

I love 901's ... i don't get why more vapers don't use them, but I'm sure the that's the reason they are so cheap at VK.
It (all 901's) has an air hole near the coil and folks say it leaks... the key is to drip just enough juice. I prefer VK's 901's which are DSE brand.

If you want lots of vapor and practically no t/h, you might like the 801. Iken has a Cannon 801 that is awesome; tons of vapor, no t/h, and a 510 connection. I like a little t/h, and the 901 is cooler than the 510 or 306.
I don't like 801 because the mouth piece is too wide and i like a little t/h at least.

regarding 510's I think all the main brands are as good... joye is the accepted high standard (Ikens are like a custom special), Bauway... and then there is the cheaper ones like EM, Good Prophets, etc.

510 SR can be found in either 2.2 or 2.3 to 2.4 and .5 ..... so for the 510, 2.8 up to 3.5 will be HV.
with the Vari, most say any higher than 3.5 will tax the upper end of the voltage range. in other words, 4 Ohms is for 6v and up.

910's start at LR 1.7 to 2.0 and the Vari has no problem with those (amp limiter).
901 SR starts at 2.8, up to 3.1 Ohm but will vape great at 3.5 to 3.9v

Thanks! Good to know the brand breakdowns.

Finally I understand SR!

with the Vari, most say any higher than 3.5 will tax the upper end of the voltage range. in other words, 4 Ohms is for 6v and up.

I want to keep it around ~ 4v... better battery life.

901 SR starts at 2.8, up to 3.1 Ohm but will vape great at 3.5 to 3.9v

The 901SR seems to be my target range! In my experience, I found that at 2.8 ohm and 4.2v I'm getting great vaping (t/h, vape, taste, etc). I tried going up / down a few notches and did notice a difference. But, to each their own. I'm still in the "green" with 4.2v on a 2.8 ohm resistance.

When I get my Provari resolved I'll have to look into picking up an adapter--I just first have to make sure that it will fit well!

Thanks for all the great info.
