There is no screw stop like on a 510 or ego so you are cranking the atty on way too tight and pushing the center contact of the atty onto the body creating a short. If the insulator on the bottom looks distorted, that's your problem. Back off there superman and only screw down the atty so it just makes contact. The manual describes this so put down the Prodigy for a minute and read it.

I don't know why any manufacturer would design the atty connection like that since there have already been some battery explosions resulting in broken jaws and missing teeth. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen. It's not like they don't know about it so they can't plead ignorance. This doesn't happen with Chinese equipment so who says made in the USA means better? I'm not too familiar with the Prodigy, I'm sure they have some protection built in but stuff fails even with "protected" batteries.

8-oBroken jaws and missing teeth? WTH are you talking about????8-o

Exploding batteries in a PV while in close proximity to the users mouth (go figure?). A fully charged 16340 has more potential energy than a shotgun blast. I believe unprotected batteries were to blame but designing a PV that can short easily and relying on the protection circuit to work flawlessly is reckless engineering. Vent holes work only if the battery self destructs gracefully and slowly. If it decides to go in a couple of milliseconds, it's like the vent holes weren't even there. So the chances of that happening are 1 in 100,000. Pretty good odds unless you're the "1".
