i have a prodigy v3 at 6v. ive had 3 attys short in 2 weeks, they are standard res attys and the one included with the device. any idea why these keep shorting?
these are shorting, not poping, ive had one pop. these are getting no fire and the batteries are real hot
is it possible that the atty threads on the device is screwing up my attys?? i put a lr atty on it gave it one real quick fire, then took it off and put it on my tornado and it dont work now
the one they shipped with the device shorted out after 2 days. im not sure what they include but it should be a standard or high res. also two 3.2 ohm attys brand new shorted out before they fired once...
There is no screw stop like on a 510 or ego so you are cranking the atty on way too tight and pushing the center contact of the atty onto the body creating a short. If the insulator on the bottom looks distorted, that's your problem. Back off there superman and only screw down the atty so it just makes contact. The manual describes this so put down the Prodigy for a minute and read it.
I don't know why any manufacturer would design the atty connection like that since there have already been some battery explosions resulting in broken jaws and missing teeth. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen. It's not like they don't know about it so they can't plead ignorance. This doesn't happen with Chinese equipment so who says made in the USA means better? I'm not too familiar with the Prodigy, I'm sure they have some protection built in but stuff fails even with "protected" batteries.
Exploding batteries in a PV while in close proximity to the users mouth (go figure?). A fully charged 16340 has more potential energy than a shotgun blast. I believe unprotected batteries were to blame but designing a PV that can short easily and relying on the protection circuit to work flawlessly is reckless engineering. Vent holes work only if the battery self destructs gracefully and slowly. If it decides to go in a couple of milliseconds, it's like the vent holes weren't even there. So the chances of that happening are 1 in 100,000. Pretty good odds unless you're the "1".
ok so i may be over tightening, but i dont like wobbles and i dont tighten too hard. would using a ego charger adapter on the mod then an atty keep things tight and not ruin attys?
