Friends...
I am troubleshooting.

After 2-3 days of using some 510's and 901's with a variety of VG and PG liquid their performance seems to decline. Less vapor... they heat up quicker... etc...

One thing I am trying to rule out is that VG rapidly reduces performance.
VG would clog and kill my cartomizers...

If this might be the case and VG is messing up my atties... is there some maintenance that I could be performing that would help?

I have had atties last weeks using PG based liquids... but when I switch to heavy VG use... they seem to bite the dust...

any thoughts?

Atomizers are so delicate and vary so much from unit to unit that is difficult to determine the precise cause of diminished performance. And eventually (anywhere from a few days to a few months), all attys die or peter out.

To keep any atomizer going for as long as possible:

  • Always keep them moist. Most cartridges don't do this very well; frequent dripping (directly on the atty coil) does. I do three drops at a time.

  • Regularly (perhaps daily) blow them out ... after which drip four drops.

  • Avoid very thick e-liquid (except with LR atomizers), whether the thickness is due to VG or the type of flavoring used.

  • Love and pamper the good attys: the ones that are exceptionally effective from the get-go. They are fewer and further between than many of us would like. I'm still using and treasuring a 510 atty I purchased several months ago, whereas one a got much more recently has been disappointing from the start (and sits unused).
Hope this helps!

All of what Don says, plus if you blend at an 80:20 ratio VG with H2O or Pure grain alcohol, the viscosity is close to most PG ejuices and won't give your atomizers any problems. I've used that ratio with VG based ejuices for 9 months with no problems. That 'myth' comes from people that attempt to vape pure VG which is not recommended.
