A couple years back, some friends & I all got Joye 510 kits to help us quit smoking. I kept falling back on regular smokes pretty regularly, and I eventually "retired" my 510. In reflection, I think that there were a couple key factors in my return to "analogs". 1.) I had gotten a sampler, but it was all tobacco-based flavors. A couple were okay, but they were...I guess boring is the best word. 2.) I bought the original sampler, but I never went back after additional eliquid. I suppose part of me was just disappointed with the wasted money on my original round of eliquid. 3.) Let's face it, you have to WANT to quit to be successful. And, my heart really wasn't into it that time around.

My wife & I had been talking about quitting for a couple of months. We finally settled on a date--May 14th. As that day approached, I started talking to my wife about vaping. We also got an unexpected visit from one of my friends that had started vaping those two years past & stuck with it. Ironically, he had actually been vaping 0mg fluid the past couple of months, and he had just hung up his vaping gear. Two of the biggest things that he advised is that I switchover to the newer 510T cartridges & atomizers and a suggestion for an apple eliquid that he really liked.

The week before we quit, I ordered a couple starter kits, extra cartridges & atomizers, and a 20 bottle sampler kit of eliquid. The rest is history, as the saying goes. We have both had one instance where we wanted an "analog", and we both put them out after the first drag or two; the taste was just awful. (How did we smoke them for 20+ years?!?)

Lessons learned to date:
1.) Try different flavors. Find your "rhythm." For me, the tobacco knock-off flavors just don't work. My wife actually uses a American Red Tobacco knock-off to satisfy those urges for a real cigarette. For me, I like stronger flavored eliquids like coffee. Our other favorites are apple, cherry, chocolate, and banana.
2.) As money allows, buy extra parts. Not only does this help ensure that you will never have to go back to real cigarettes, but it will also let you carry multiple ecigs of different flavors. The nice thing there is that you don't have to swap cartridges on a single atomizer and wait for the old flavor to slowly cook out & be replaced by the new flavor.
3.) Battery strength directly influences vapor production. For the experienced caper, this is a known. But, for the novice this could be frustrating...especially when that urge to smoke hits.
4.) Regardless of how or what you vape, refill early & often (if necessary). An atomizer can cost as much as a pack of cigarettes. So, burning them out by running them dry can get expensive.
5.) Sucking: too much and you will flood the atomizer, too little and there is very little vapor produced, and the latter can be unfulfilling. It is a hard line to find for some. My wife has a problem with waiting too long between puffs; she remembers when she has the urge for a cigarette, and then she puffs too strongly. If your sucking away like you are trying to pull a thick shake through a straw, you are puffing to strong.

I had one more, but I have rambled too long & forgotten it!

The worst part about vaping is now that it as grown into a full fledged addiction/hobby now. :) We just moved up to eGo-C parts...along with some clearomizers. And, I have also started dabbling in mixing my own eliquids. (If only I could mix an apple like Aqua Vapor's...) Oh well, it is still cheaper & healthier than traditional cigarettes!
