Evening all,

I have found with HV vaping that over time, the draw gets harder and harder as the air flow becomes restricted due to the plastic insert melting/warping.

Despite trying various needle drill bits to try and de-restrict the melt, I'm not having much luck, and my atty's are becoming junked, not through failure of the coil, but because I just can't draw through the damn things.

Does anyone have any thoughts on reworking the atty construction using a ceramic replacement for that plastic part?

- just throwing it out for discussion.

Cheers

Chumbah.

I have rebuilt a number of attys and I always leave that plastic piece out. I've noticed no additional leaking and no change in performance without the plastic insert. Also, a couple atty's I've taken apart had a brass piece instead of plastic. In those, one of the lead wires is soldered to the brass piece and the other is of course soldered to the center post. I wish I could tell you which attys have the brass piece, but I simply can't remember where I got them. Maybe someone else knows?

Chumbah, are you using anormal atomizer or a mod on your HV?

I have found that very few standard atty's and carts hold up to HV in the long run. The cart is just too close to the heat source (Nichrome coil).
Hey l3oertjie I think he is referring to this little white plastic piece (melted and plugged up on the left) in the connector and not the cart.

That is another advantage to your approach as it should avoid any such problems.

@ Chumbah

If opening that hole back up doesn't help, look to the tiny air holes in the atty threads.

Before I even vaped I saw the image above and It is a little worrying to say the least. Why do they use plastic it melts and causes poor airflow and is very bad to inhale or handle. I use hv or vhv attys from cloud 9 in the uk. The attys are good quality but still have a thin plastic disc inside to keep the coil wires apart and from shorting on the batter connector. I wish the place that makes them" almost for sure China" would stop using them and use ceramic or some other non plastic material.
