So after about a month or so experimentation with cartos, I decided to bring my Cisco and HH357s from storage.

First I tried my used ones. The taste wasnt that great, they were cleaned and primed before storage, but hey, the vapor was still great. After the 3rd or 4th mouthfull of juice I was about to throw all these attys in the trash.

Then I remembered I had a new 1.5 HH357v1. I figured if I really want to give attys another chance, I might as well try a new one...

So I followed the instructions on the website. I vaped until the flavor intensified, the part where they say "you will know it" I got a huge plume of nice flavorful vapor. At literally the same instant, the draw tightened up severely. I decided to try enlarging the holes, something I never tried before. I took my Dremel with a pointed high speed cutter bit and made them slightly larger until the draw was tolerable.

For now Im happy, flavor is BETTER than cartos..but Im still not entirely convinced attys are better. Ill give it a few days and go from there..

It would be nice if you ended up really liking them especially because of their cost but don't let feel as if you have to. Everyone's different. You would have no trouble selling the new ones and try another kind. As I said many times I love them but beat them like a red headed step child so they die quite quickly....not worth it to me. Now the bridgeless 510s are to die for.

Hey rc10mike,

These really help with those 357's as far as spitting, and also dont let a drop of juice ever come back up and hit the mouth. If ya get a chance to pick one of these Donut TrippyTips up I think you may really like the vape combo of Donut & 357, there all I run and have been for some time now, they make the 357's Radical to say the least, :) actually they make any 510 Atty much better in my opinion, just never a drop of juice to the mouth, they turn anything into a vaping machine :)

yeah, it's all personal preference. i too like atty's better coz of the flavor and on top of that i kill carto's way too fast due to VG juice. also i can clean atty's easy and cleaning an carto is a pain. thats why i eventually choose for atty's, witch was a pain to go through the learing curve, think it took me at least a month, maybe even 2 months.

going from dry hits to flooding, spitting and everything in between, all day long the atty's needed to be cleaned very often. now that we have the hang of it the atty's takes 3 to 6 weeks before they need a cleaning, and all in all some may last us months. did with a batch of 15 atty's about a year with the 2 of us, i still have one left of them, but it's pretty close to be too cloged up now :)

Took me about a year of going back and forth before I mastered the atomizer ..... now its attys 1000%

There is no rush, keep using what works best 95% of the time and experiment the other 5% with attys if you like.

I kept after it just for pride, I feel there is nothing I can't learn and atomizers were working like crap for me after the first hour or two. I knew everyone here couldn't be totally wrong so I kept trying ..... I'm glad I did. Now a carto only tastes acceptable to me for the first 30 mins then I can't wait to get a Cisco Bridgless atty back on there.

Couple things though .....

First its weird that you got an HH to "tighten up" because the HH is about the airy-ist lightest draw atomizer I've used. Even with it flooded to the point of JIM (juice in mouth) its still a light draw.
If you could tell me how you got it to tighten up some I would appreciate it :D

Second I made the mistake of trying to learn all kinds of attys at the same time. Its much easier to pick a brand/style/resistance and get it mastered before you move on. Just pick one thats semi-working for you to start with.
Honestly the HH is a tough one to get the squonk right. I would not consider it a beginner or even intermediate atty on a bottom feeder.

Good luck, if you like most vapors your taste/style and equipment (minus the REO) will continue to evolve for a year or two.
Im 2+ years into vaping and the last 6 months I've finally picked my winning atomizer and mastered the technique it requires.
(Cisco Bridgless 1.5Ω) if I haven't all ready mentioned it :)
306 is my 1st choice but not with the run of the mill drip tip (it really makes a performance difference with 306).
Its like changing the dia and length of the barrel on a 510.
The 510 version of the same is a great choice as well. I have both but tend to use up the 306 first.

Matthew, I'm starting to really dig the Trippy Tips...what's that blue/green piece that goes in the hole? Does it come out or is that part of the tip?

Dave, back when Bert first started doing the TrippyTips he had a Beta program where there was about 23 people or so in the program. We all got to pick and idea for a trippyTip that we wanted to see made. For the longest time I wanted a drip tip that would allow the liquids to go down but not come back up, so no juice would get in your mouth or hit the lips when you took a pull or vape. So my idea was the non re-flux and the donut was born :), the Blue Green one your talking about was the original Beta Donut Bert made for me for the Beta program. It's called an Alien Tech glass, Bert does the Alien Tech in all shapes.

I then took my original Alien Tech Donut as well as the white/red Glow in the dark Donut and had 2 nice high grade Opals cut in half and put on either side of each donut to give them a little more pizzazz and just a neat look :) They are set with a special UV glue and dried with a special UV Light and set to a glass rod in the center so there permanent. The jewelry was done by Jess & Mark Dow, who own = Different Seasons Jewelry :: Home Jess is also a member hear at ECF. This husband and wife team do some exquisite work in the jewelry field they have some really beautiful works on there website check them out when you can.

Since we are revisiting attys on this thread, I thought I would give a situation and ask you atty vaping experts for your opinions.

Here's the deal- have always heard of scorching or burning an atty but in my 18 months of vaping, had never really experienced that. Apparently though, I've done just that with one of my attys. It vapes great but the flavor is awful. It tastes burnt. Now, I've dry burned attys before without this taste (not really recommended as they shorten your atty's life). So, with this awful tasting atty, I've boiled it, sat it in PGA and even Sonic cleaned it but seems to make no difference. I have not try dry burning it yet...

The question is, can the burnt taste be removed or is it a gonner? Btw, it's an EM 510 LR atty.

Yeah, I have not had very good luck with de-wicking a EM either....there's a sleeve in there and it tends to get pulled up along with the wick which breaks the wires going to the atty...

I will give it a try though and report back!!

UPDATE: Got Bridge and wick out but still tastes burnt- there must be more wicking material under the coil... Oh well...

Well, I just did a series of Dry Burns (Not recommended unless a last resort)...and apparently I charred and got rid of all of that gunk in there- did another sonic cleaning to get all the stuff off... This is vaping mighty fine now and tasting great!!!

Oh, and I just now drilled a hole out- I think this is about as good as an atty can get at this point!!

Dave, i'll tell ya what I've been doing for the last month with the EM Atty's, I bought 300 of them when they first came out and where $3ea so i still have some of the original EM LR 510'S :). I bought a roll of SS Mesh,,,, I pull the tube carefully off of the connector, remove that inner sleeve around the cup, remove all the nichrome metal mesh around the cup, remove the bridge and piece of wick under the bridge,,,, then cut a small piece of my SS mesh, and a piece of Silica wick, I run the small piece of silica under the cup up to each side, same with a small piece of the mesh through the two bottom wires and up to the sides of the cup, then I take my piece of ss mesh and wrap it around the cup. I then slide everything carefully up into the tube, and then push the tube down tight back onto the connector,,, making myelf a EM LR 357-510 :) it works, it kicks azz, and they've been running strong as hell. so thats my $3 EM LR 357 510 ATTY Trick :) Shhhhshshhhhh like Sargent Schultz use to say " I know nothinggggggggggg" :)

You can also rewick the coil with a new piece of silica too, the trick it to put it on a sewing needle, wet it with PG and pull it through,,,, or you can remove a little from 2mm silica wick and twist the strands through the coil. this all takes some time but heck 357's are $21-22 plus shipping :)

So very simple to do too,,, just take your time when you remove the connector from the tube, its important not to Ape this, very very lightly wiggle it apart,,, put the Atty on an Ego Batt,,, wrap a piece of rubber like one of those things used to remove a jar lid over the Atty tube, then precisely lock your vice grips on the tube locking them just tight enough,, you can also scotch tape the tube first, then put the rubber around it, so the tube doesn't get marred up,, once vice gripped or in a vice even better, the connector will wiggle right off of that tube with ease. Strip the innards down to the bare ceramic cup, place new wick like I said and you can practice with wrapping the SS mesh till you get them just to the draw you like, the more you stuff with mesh the tighter the draw, and less is looser :) works awesome, I got to a point where I can do one start to finish now in about 10min :)

Thanks for all the tips and advice! Ive been happily vaping this new 357 v1 for 24 hours now with NO issues!

I would like to try one of the donut tips, but they dont seem available anymore...

@Big Hitter: Every HH357 Ive used even the V2s tightened up severely after a day or so.

This is my HH357 History:
1.5 V1 short barrel. Still works, spits to much
2ohm V1. Worked for 2 days then started tasting like you had a seed in the green tobacco. No other way to describe it.
2x 2.5ohm V1s. Lost in the mail...
1.5 V2 Long Barrel. Worked good, tightenend up too much to use, even after cleanings.
2ohm V2 Long Barrel. Quit producing vapor, coil still works. It was returned.

So far I have yet to get anywhere near the longevity out of these as many of you. Im keeping my fingers crossed on this one..

Oh, every other Cisco 306, 510, LR atty I tried tightened up after a few days...

Im using ONLY Johnson Creek Tennessee Cured 100% VG. That is all I use. Its actually just as thin as my old PG juices I bought when I started.

Sorry Rockyroad, but your reading comprehension is gonna have to be used on this one, Hanna & Cisco are good peeps and in know way shape or form would i ever want to piss them off, just isnt gonna happen. practice practice and more practice is what it takes, the more you do it the better you get just like anything else, it's actually pretty easy to do, only thing missing in mine is Cisco's coil ,, but doing this with even an Eastmall or Joy LR will work and work well, give it a whirl and see :)
