It's just metal tubes and end caps. Once the Chinese sorted out the whole copper, silver plated thing... superior continuity is not a surprise. Once they improve on finish machining, engraving and thread/button clearances... that'll be it. $250 mechs for $60 or less. ;-)

Yeah, I'm pretty upset about it. I got the King to replace my K100 mod and when i got it the K100 still performed better, which i was not too happy about. Apparently my King mod has a faulty spring according to Surefire but that's besides the point. What made me really upset is when i got the King clone! I spend $230 on the SS King mod and it got outdone by the fasttech Brass King clone which cost me $25.

The problem... and it's a bit surprising that no one saw this coming when the Chinese first started doing poor quality, loosely based copies of European mechs... is that the Chinese are neither dumb - nor slow when it comes to manufacturing.
They do have marvelous patience though... and they've just been waiting for the opportune moment.

Unless it's limited by import/export tariffs - government regs bla bla bla - practically everything we use is made in China. Even the stuff we think is "high quality" (unless you paid an understood and accepted premium for it)... somewhere there's a little label on it that says "Made in China".

This is the world we live in... blinders on, to the fact that China owns that world.

Sorry to have gone off topic. My respect for the Chinese is immense... as is my disdain. I have devoted a good deal of study to China and it's unique culture... they, as a people and a country, are both fascinating, and frightening.

All done buying genny mechs? ;-)

Haha, I understand. I am after all Chinese myself. But I'll see how Surefire fixes my problem, if they do a poor job i might just go with clones from now on. After all $200+ for a battery tube is just crazy, especially in non vapers eyes. People already look at me crazy with a close to $400 set up.

I get it - I get your mindset completely. I think it's perfectly normal to spend several thousands of dollars on weapons & wristwatches... and wonder why others aren't willing to do the same. After all, killing people, and knowing the accurate time when you do it, is important. :2cool:

Seriously though... when you consider what "low tech" mechanical mods are - and much of what you're buying is a level of limited, original "art" and exclusivity, that at this point, will be only for a relatively brief moment in time... why pony up?

I guess we'll see over time what direction the consumer market is aimed. There will always be limited buyers for the equally limited art mods... so nothing will really change, other than the practical people who've been saving for one high priced mech, will take that money and buy 6 low priced, but equally functional mechs.

What's important to us, and our willingness to spend to get the best, is perfectly logical. But as someone who's less interested in "keeping up appearances" and more interested in sufficient quality to insure performance with his vape gear, I have no desire to spend exorbitant prices for metal tubes with end caps.

Leaves me more money for weapons & wristwatches.

I'm with you on that one. I can spend hundreds on vape gear or I could spend it on my car and truck, which will prove to be more useful and seem more well spent in the end. I have been justifying buying another authentic mech mod but then I thought I could spend that money and get my truck lifted instead.

As long as you drive it in some dirt once or twice a year... you can completely justify the cost and reduction in fuel mileage.

(Said with a perfectly straight face - by a guy with a 5" lifted LWB Jeep Limited ;-))

Yeah, I plan to do so. I live in NJ so there's the Pine Barrens. My shocks rusted through and needs to be replaced so I'm thinking of lifting it. Since I'll have to spend the money anyway, might as well make it worth while.
Always wanted a jeep but went with the 4Runner instead.

To get back on topic, I went for the clone trifecta. Nemesis, Chi and the King. initially I liked the button feel of the King. But after the Nemesis and Chi clones, I would have to say, IMO, that the King is the softer hitting of the 3.

I might just get another clone just to compare it to the king clone.

So a .50-Caliber-Rolex-King-Mod with Laser sights, and a bayonet mount - just might be the perfect Christmas gift for you too? And here I thought it was just me ...
