A few people have mentioned this lately - with the new veteran threads and changing avatars but when I tried an image that met the parameters - 200x200pxl and 19.5kb whichever is less... from a site on the web, I (we) get "invalid url". The workaround is to put it on your harddrive and upload it but wondering if that is a bug or if anyone has been able to get the - from the web style to work?

It really depends on the site you're trying to link from. Some don't allow other sites (like this one) to link to their images. It's considered stealing bandwidth.

It's best just to upload from your computer, or from your account on a site such as Photobucket.

Understood. Thanks Angus.

but this is where i'm getting the invalid url notice! not when i'm inserting the image in the body of a post - only when i want to use it as an avatar.
