Avoid 'Sunflower Oil'?

I've been making my own juices now for about a month, and it's a whole school of process, trail and error, failure and success, note taking, and research. I have some flavors that were purchased at one of those health nut oriented expensive grocery stores, and some flavors that I purchased at a Wal-Mart. The flavors I found at Wal-Mart are 'Watkins' brand, and are PG based for the most part, and I have to admit, they work. I would say that the cherry and strawberry flavors are super strong, even stronger than the LorAnnOils' 'Highly Concentrated' varieties. My favorite flavors so far make use of them. The one's I got at Whole Foods are made by 'Frontier', and are 'Sunflower Oil' based. I am pretty sure that the sunflower oil, when vaped, brings a taste of it's own that is so disgustingly overpowering that it erases the taste of any other flavor present. My bottom line observation is to avoid any flavoring that contains sunflower oil. I am afraid to try any of these flavors at all anymore, because it seems likely to be a waste of money. I thought that I would post it here, to hope for feedback from someone who either knows for a fact, or could let me know that they too had the same experience that I had. If so, please post a reply to this thread. Thank you, and sorry if this topic has been touched on, I searched, but could not find anything specific regarding it.

Sunflower oil doesn't sound like it would be good. What section did you find the flavorings in Walmart?

On a side note:
I see people say that you can't use oils in your mixes, but I have also read good reviews on people using Loranns Cinnamon Oil. So, is this outdated? People used to say "don't use any oil based flavorings" when 510 attys were all that were being used, since they damage/gunk up your stuff, but with all the rebuildables now, is this still relevant? I believe this is one of those things that has been regurgitated over and over so much that it has become a rule.

If you disagree, please explain WHY you should never use flavorings with oil ?

Melee, the issue with vaping oils isn't equipment based it's health based. Google "vaping oil based flavors" for more information. I keep typing out and losing my responses and I can't do it again.
Here's one link that bears on this discussion since there's specific mention of sunflower oil. Just because people vape cinnamon oil doesn't mean it's safe any more than people vaping diacetyl does. Is there definite proof? Not that I've seen but there is enough well founded conjecture for me to avoid it just like I do diacetyl.

I think that the whole idea of staying away from 'oils' is more about mixing the juice, where oils do not mix well with water based liquids. You'll see pools of oil on the surface of your juice where there is heavier oil consistencies. I've noticed that some flavors (maybe cinnamon) produce an oil (I'm pretty sure that lemon does) and so some flavors are going to be impossible to add to a juice mix without the presence of oils. I hear that artificial flavors are better, so if it is possible to avoid the oils by ditching the natural flavor and going artificial, it might be a better bet.
Wal-Mart has it's flavorings in the same aisle as the sugar and cake-mix, at least at this Wal-Mart in Orange County, California. They have a lot of flavorings that are PG based and artificial, and some that have alcohol, or oils of some sort. I have only gone with the ones that list their ingredients as 'PG, water, natural and artificial flavor'.

Some people use oils... like orange or anise. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable vaping any kind of oil. I mean, if you think about it... would you want oil in your lungs? I mean, at some point, some level of the oil would have to get in there. That may not even be a factor but I just avoid them regardless. As someone stated, there are plenty of vape-safe flavors that are cheap so why risk it?

just one critical misstep from a vaper will make front page news.
I know this is true, and I have a story or two that could easily be used to argue that e-cigs are unsafe, and something to argue against. Someone could easily say that because there is artificial coloring in the flavoring that we use, then that equals putting the coloring in there to attract children and therefore we are evil for trying to 'tempt' children with pretty colors in our juice. It's not going to be enough to simply avoid certain additives when we are making our own juice for personal use. People who don't like vaping could just exaggerate a story enough to make others hate e-cigs. I take responsibility for my own actions. I think most vapers don't even want to try their hands at spinning a coil for themselves and so they remain ignorant and don't 'waste their time' with involving themselves with understanding anything beyond pushing this button and taking a drag. The 'vapers' we want to reach are definitely not reading this thread, and probably not even members of this forum.
