about to pull the trigger on a icon but the only thing slowing me down is that it is battery specific.really want to try aw high drains does anyone know if they will work in the icon?

Yes i'm using the red IMR AW14500's and performance is exellent getting a good 4to6hrs heavy use

yeah, it's not really battery specific. it will fit the AW IMR14500 without any modifications whatsoever. nice choice!
buGG sold me on the AW IMR 14500s, and I won't go back to the Tenergys. I highly recommend them.
If only Pure Smoker sold them on their site (along with the AW LiFePO4s for the V3), they would be my one-stop shop (at least for all hardware).
Oh, and I second 7thCabal on the adapter. If you order the 510 version, be sure to specify in the order comments to include the V2 (moated) version of the adapter. It was just made available this week and is fantastic. It hides the atty threads perfectly and catches any leakage that might happen.

The AW P14500 (protected battery) work as well if you remove the 3 washers.

ok ordered the icon satin finish and ordered 4 aw high drains from super-t thankS for all your help guys ,time to stalk the mailman
ok so got my icon yesterday. and aw highdrains day before.fired up the icon last night with lr cartos and immediately melted 2 cartomizers.very confused i looked in one of the cartos and the coil was glowing like a toaster wow! like the aws were running it too hot. then i noticed that the button throw was very short hhmmmm. so after playing with it for a while i removed the washers, didnt fire at all,put one washer back in and bingo ! working great no more burning cartos. dont really understand why but go figure?
Yeah, I had to do a little fiddling with the ICON to get the switch set up right.
I had the same "very short button throw" as you had - so short that the spring wasn't "springing".
I just broke down the switch, changed to a med spring, dumped a washer, reassembled everything and all is good.

Anyone know the voltage under load of the icon with these batteries? I really want one.
not really sure im not all that technical with the voltages.im using high drains with boge 2.0 cartos and they hit really good and hard , harder than my omega with the same cartos and regular 18650. if you really want an icon this is definitly the best setup.my omega has been gathering alot of dust since i got the icon.also ive found that removing one of the washers and putting batteries in upside down "positive side down" is the best feel of the button action.
you guys gotta get some of those 14250's for your icon
How long are you getting out of them?
Just Ordered one and should have it tomm.(hopefully). I just now read this thread so I'm really wondering what adapter I'll get. If I didn't ask for the new version will I get and old one instead?
