I just purchased two aw imr 18650's brand new from provape and Im running a 1.2 ohm coil on my zap on my provari. For some reason, one of the batteries is showing low battery on my provari at 3.7 left. Can I still use this battery with 3.7 left:blink:? How low can I go as far as the amount of juice left in the battery? Thanks.

* only a fourth of my zap tank was vaped before the battery was showing to be low, keep in mind it was freshly charged

My Provari shows similar symptoms when contacts are dirty. Clean and apply thin layer of naolox to the threads on both battery cap and tube. Also take a pencil with an eraser and clean the battery contact on the board inside the tube. If it continues with only one battery after doing this I'd say the battery is weak and needs to be replaced.

I was actually about to clean it to see if that would help any, thanks for the suggestion

The ProVari will not fire when the battery is too low, so you can use it until it will no longer fire. I have found new AW batteries need a few cycles to reach normal operating life. Charge it and use it a few times.

Not true with new lithium batteries. I have found that if a lithium battery is stored for a long time they do benefit from a few cycles but only slightly. A provari cutting off at 3.7V resting is not normal for a new battery or even one that has been stored long term.

Rechargeable batteries may not deliver their full rated capacity when new and will require formatting. While this applies to most battery systems, manufacturers of lithium-ion batteries disagree. They say that Li-ion is ready at birth and does not need priming. Although this may be true, users have reported some capacity gains by cycling these batteries after long storage.

Oh, ok. When I first got mine, they wouldn't last very long, but after a few charging cycles they work as they should. Quite a few posts on here saying the same thing. Guess that never really happened...

If they are old stock it is possible that they did improve from a few cycles. When talking about improving we are talking a few % not a 40% improvement. The battery is about 40% charged at 3.7V so it wasn't discharged. The only thing that could cause his issues is dirty contacts or a battery with high internal resistance not allowing needed current to flow.

The Provari's fire button will begin blinking when the battery voltage is getting close to needing a re-charge, and the blinking will increase in speed until the Provari will no longer work.

The Provari is especially sensitive to any dirt or carbon build-up on the positive battery contact inside the Provari. Isopropal alcohol on a long cotton tip applicator or a pencil eraser will clean this off.

The battery endcap is part of the electrical circuit. If the end cap threading is dark or dirty, this can interfere with the battery conduction and cause the fire button to blink. This can be from oxidation build-up of the bare metal threading. Noaloxx is an anti-oxidant which will dissolve the oxidation and will help reduce further oxidation for the short term. You should be able to find a tube of Noaloxx in the electrical department of most hardware stores. A little goes a long way; apply to the threads and put the cap back on the Provari. Work the cap back and forth to work the Noaloxx in the threads. Then remove the Noaloxx with a clean paper towel. You can leave a small amount in the threads to prevent future oxidation.

what is the difference when using the 18650 at 2000mah and one battery that is 3000mah ?

AW comes in 18650 1600mah and 2000mah the 1600 mah has a 20 amp limit and the 2000 has a 10 amp limit the higher the mah the less amps the battery can handle, is a good rule of thumb.

Higher mAh

Amp
Hours
tells you this battery will last longer between charges. But lower resistance coils draw more amps from your battery causing it to heat up. Draw to much and your battery can go thermal.

This is mostly an issue with Mechanical mods vs Regulated mod that have overload protection built in to the circuitry.

There are higher mah protected batterys but not recommended to use. IMR batterys have a safer chemistry and are less likely to give you issues.

I always recommend buying your bats and chargers from Home page they are a trusted vendor. They will also answer any question you have before you make a purchase if you shoot them a email.
