Ah, didn't know if you could rotate. The vape just seems unnatural the way it is gripped.

It is slightly unnatural, most would hold it in their whole hand, rather than as CS Man holds a cigarette, but I can't do anything about how his hand is curled, that's the original photo, and any changes or additions have to work with what is there. Objects can be added or changed, but changing the position of a body part, not so much. I would require another photo of the same body part curled in a different way, but in the same "plane" (hand relative to wrist, fingers relative to hand), in order to place *that* image on the one I'm editing. If you could find an image of CS Man holding a flashlight? Yeah I could make that look like he's holding a real mod.

Much can be done to "fake" photographs, but the best, most realistic fakes are those that don't try to make body parts do unnatural things, curve in unnatural ways (relative to the original photo!). Trust me, I've been getting creative with photoediting for more than 25 yrs -- a long time before I had Photoshop to do it with! I used to use a program called "Picture Publisher." It's not too difficult if you know what you're doing, but learning it takes time and much trial and error -- and a great deal of patience with masking edges.

Oh, I meant rotate the vape about 10° clockwise, not his hand. I feel ya though!

I started with it that way... but it needs to cover the same area as the cigarette; trying to re-create the folds in a person's hand is just not happening. :D

It doesn't work quite as well as the other, precisely because of the perspective problem -- the e-cig needs to be in the same "plane" as the cigarette, and this one is close, but not quite perfect, even with foreshortening.

Andria
Yeah, I had that problem when I created my avatar as well. I did a perspective skew of the PV, but it's wonky because the base isn't rounded properly.

Yeah, I had that problem when I created my avatar as well. I did a perspective skew of the PV, but it's wonky because the base isn't rounded properly.

With that second one, it was primarily the lighting that was so different; the original photo was very washed out, weak contrast, yet the PV is very high contrast... so I had to work on both parts, strengthing the contrast in the pic, softening it in the PV, plus adding a little of that slightly green tinge of the ambiant light. Actually I lucked out on the perspective of that particular mod, the way it was situated in its original pic was nearly perfect, just had to rotate it slightly to match the angle of the cigarette, and then do that foreshortening thing.

Iffy, I'd love to be able to add some vapor, but as I said, finding a "smoke" type image with a transparent background, a 24-bit transparency, would be difficult, since it's hard to see something like smoke against a transparent background -- you need to have it in front of something before you can tell much about it.

I'll do some edits to the pic AndriaD already edited, I'll post here after it's done, have to shoot some pics of my hand holding an eGo battery so I can just edit the cig-hand out and put a picture of my hand in there, so it looks a bit more natural.

And for AndriaD, there are bunch of realistic smoke brushes for PS, PM me and I'll hit you up with some links :)
