Pretty sure the hot spring only collapses if you get yourself a short. if you've got a multi-meter or tubesteak with an ohm check you should be fine. I'm sure these coil slingin' beasts will give you a definitive shortly.
Safety-wise, its about the amps your battery can safely let go of. The spring doesn't get hot (which is what makes it collapse) if the battery doesn't get hot. Like Doogie said, (hey Doog), a hard short is whats gonna collapse it.

lol oh Eric!!! Dude I build a duel sub ohm coil that vapes at .6-.7 ohms!! I won't go any lower than that. It's a hot and at times wet vape so today I went back to a single micro coil. Can't remember what it tested at now.
Well here it is! It looks great. I thought the copper vein would be lighter, but it's darker. I really like it. My Reo angel said I could keep it! I know you are reading this and thank you so much! You're a great friend and if I can ever do anything for you just let me know!
My practice with microcoils in the protank heads and igo L really payed off. Set up was a breeze. The air hole is lined up with the coil and the coil is up when I vape. I was scared when I saw it was a screw on top instead of using o rings but it lines up perfectly.
