Well, it's mostly the shipping and handling that kills it. Shipping from sweden via UPS is $45 or so. You need to order around 6 months worth at least to make it worth while. So it ends up being about $70/month for me where it used to cost $30 - 40. However, I have to order around $250 worth at a time at least, otherwise it goes to $80 - 90 per month. This is also using a cheap brand and only Los which is loose snus that needs to be rolled into a portion. If I was using portion snus it would go up to about $120 - 130 per mo, when it used to cost around $50 or $60 to use portion snus.
Snus prices in general also went up after the pact act so that's another thing that's caused an issue.
All of this is also without the smokeless tobacco tax, which doesn't apply in PA, but other states got hit even harder so snus prices went completely insane.
Dipping full time cost $30 - 40 and it was right down the street, so it was easy to switch to. It's a bit more addictive than snus as well in my opinion, it delivers nicotine faster and a little harder.
The costs I'm looking at with my ecig will be around $40/mo so long as I stick with it for 6 months, I don't intend to buy anything further other than the $250 I spent. It has tons of eliquid, kanthal, & silica so I'll be good. (I'll have around 600mls of eliquid on hand, 25ft of silica, 100ft various awg kanthal and 50ft nickel for the ithaka clone, I ended up switching the eliquids around so it actually came out to be more eliquid when I ordered compared to what I posted earlier)
I figure if I ran out of silica I can always use cotton balls/cotton yarn so long as I boil it.
