I started with ecigs and v4L around August last year. I stopped all smoking within a week due to i didnt want to just toss out my smokes. Then came the following months with no cigarettes at all. I got very sick in December and was hospitalized most of the month and did not have any vapor or anything at all accept some very good hospital drugs. I was out a day before christmas and tried to vape a bit again but unsuccessful so I tried a cigarette. Suprising to me was that the cigarette was easier to smoke than the vapor. But I did not continue the analogs. A week or two later after further recovery I was vaping again but something was missing. So the past few months I have been smoking one or two analogs a day sometimes 3-5 and I don't know why. I was always an 18mg user and still use it now and I was a 1-2 pack a day smoker when I was in full smoke mode. Is it normal to have an increased need for nicotine like this? I don't know why I am smoking and its just a little frustrating to feel yourself slowly moving back to analogs. Hopefully this babble isnt too confusing to understand. Simple solution is to increase the nicotine I suppose but why would I have a need for more nicotine...

I am so sorry to hear that you were sick! All I can say is what I think and I think your body changed when you got sick! Our bodies change inside and out as we age and a illness can cause a quick change. Could have been some of the meds they had you on, could have been something else. You reverted back to what you were use to and I think that is why is was easy for you to smoke a regular cig. If you were on Oxygen and not breathing anything in your lungs then I would say your lungs were working on getting clean and once you smoked it didn't feel bad like it use too. That feel is very short lived, I know from experience.
I am glad you start vaping again and didn't continue with the analogs. Maybe you could try a higher nic level but like I said since you weren't smoking or vaping for a time your body may not require that much nicotine at all anymore. Yet again your body could still have that urge to get right back to where it was before with the nic. I am not really sure how to answer that question. I would maybe order some carts that are 24mg and see how you tolerate them, don't go straight up to 36mg like I did and had to go right back down.
Since I joined here I know that there are people that still smoke some analogs along with vaping. Maybe those few cigs that you are smoking are causing you to need a high nic level in vaping. It all depends on how you want to proceed. Do you want to vape and not smoke analogs or do you want to do both. I would try the 24mg but don't invest alot into it until you figure out if it is for you.
Take care and best wishes!:D

First, let me start by saying I am so sorry you were so sick. I hope you are okay now. I think the whole nicotine level thing is strange since somedays, I start vaping first thing and other days, I can go the whole day with nothing. I started on 18 mgs and found it not to be enough so went to 24mg. Recently, I have tried some 36 mgs and like them too but usually after I have been vaping all day on the 24 and need something a bit stronger later on. I would try going the 24 mg route and see if that helps. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

First of all, glad youre feeling better. When I first started vaping, I smoked analogs as you do. There are maois in tobacco, and your body may be missing those. I have a snus on occasion when I just cant seem to get what I am needing from vaping alone. It also takes a bit of will. I dont want to smoke, period. I was a 2 pk a dayer and it was effecting my lungs. I was wheezing at night, and boy did I stink of them! You very well could need to up your nic level, I vape 36 mg and still have that "something missing" sometimes. Try a snus, and save your lungs.

This may be out of left field but are you on pain meds now? I was a drug user for a long time ( clean now) but for me and most of the people I ran with opiods ...... and pain pills would do this make some one who smoked a pack a day go to 2 or 3 packs a day could never kill the need for another smoke

no i was just drugged in the hospital with a ton of stuff then had some percs for a week after the hospital.. That thing happened a long time ago though 5 almost 6 months now. I'm fully recovered except in the strength department, gonna start p90x soon. Thanks for the feedback everyone. It's good to know this is a place that still helps you out or just gives you a little pep talk when you are feeling like I am.

I went through a few weeks while I was in China where I was smoking a couple a day, sometimes a couple more. It started with an occasional cigarette when offered it at meetings. But soon I was keeping a pack in the house. We may all go through periods when the temptation for a real cig gets to us.

Don't get too discouraged, and be fair to yourself; remember how many cigarettes you WOULD have been smoking before e-cigs. If you're going to count the misses (the cigarettes smoked), you have to also count the hits (the cigarettes avoided).

Sorry you were so sick! As others have said, don't beat yourself up over it, but it may require a bit of will power and you saying to yourself "Well, I can't smoke, but I CAN vape". Also see if 24's will get you over the hump and satisfy your needs. Get some 24's in your fave flavors. For me, butterscotch, cappacinno and coconut cream pie could get me past anything! lol

Good luck to you, and don't get frustrated with yourself. You are still at least smoking much less then when you were a smoker - it's all good! :)
