Oh! Forgot to mention this Don but don't give your pup any of those raw hide treats. We found out the hard way and $2,300 later that there is a chit load of crap in them and in some species of dogs it will cause bladder stones.
Our Hybrid had so many stones that it plugged his wanger up like a cork and the vet had to split it open like a banana split to get them out. When they opened his body cavity to get to his bladder they said the entire cavity was flooded with urine from where the pressure had ruptured his bladder. They came out and told us we needed to put him down because there was little hope of him surviving. I said "hell no, this is bullchit, you do what ever you have to do because he was a nomal dog this morning with no problems at all". So then they tried to find the leak but couldn't so they opened his bladder to clean out all the stones in there. They showed us a BIG handful of the stones they got out of him. They sewed him back up and 3 years later he's still kicking. The stones are coming back now and he has cancer and also some weird blood disease so we probably won't have him much longer but after all the chit he went through I'd say he pulled it off pretty damn good.
We gave him those chewy's for treats but he ate them like pop corn. One would last him about 15 minutes and at one point the wife was giving him as much as 6 a day! The vet explained to us that those things and pig ears are not health for our pups.
