ROFL - what's his personality like? Throw out some names and see what he responds to. That is usually how I name my pets - It's kinda like letting them pick their own name.
I have to put in a vote for Oberon, but largely cuz its one of my favorite summer seasonal beers (Bell's Brewery in Michigan, great stuff)
His foster family hadn't had him for very long so I'm not sure. He does wear one ear up and the other down most of the time so that might be why they named him Odie. He was found abandoned in a box along side of a road.
His personality is cool, very lovable, everybody's best friend. We already went thru every variation we could think of with that idea, then went back to our usual theme of mythology and royalty. His mom is Marpesia, an Amazon queen. Our other dane is She-Ra (He-Man's sister, the Princess of Power). My old mutt was Zeus. My vote is actually Oberon, since he was Odin's father. He was also an awesome character on an old show we loved called Gargoyles. Yes, we're nerds, we know.
My first dog was a rescued dog. Fancy expensive dogs are great, but there's something about a rescued dog-their loyalty is impossible to get from a pedigree.
Sash -- maybe he thought you were callin him Obie, and he was in hiding so Ben was more appropriate? (sorry bad star wars referencing on my part... it sounds wrong but it sounds right in my head. go figue)
Yeah, the original plan was to get another male and name him He-Man so we'd have He-Man and She-Ra guarding our house. Now that it's happening, we just can't go thru with it.She-Ra the dane, I LOVE IT!
EVERYBODY by now knows of the supply issues with RY4/eJoker, even people new to BWB. There has not been one time in all of 2011 that Don (and then subsequent posts) has not let everyone know when they will be available. He give's ample notice and even east/west coast time slots so everyone has a chance to get some.
If you know Don at all, you should know how it affects him every time some post "when's it going to be HERE". I think it is some times it's in jest or trying to be cute but that affects him just the same.
Remember this was started as a hobby and has turned into something big. He has said he will continue to do this as long as HE'S having fun.
It WILL be here when it gets here and he WILL let you know when it's available.

Also, I think if your pup's name isn't immediately obvious, don't push for it. Let it come. I think some animals need a little time to show us their true names. One of our cats had a couple of different names briefly before we found that his name was actually Pink Floyd (just Floyd for short) and the dog was unnamed for a month or so before it came to us both instantly - Dean. Your pup's name will come to you!
