Happy St. Patricks Day! I have only a wee bit of Irish, but the sun is shining in March so it's a good day to celebrate!

How are you Kevin? What did you have done to your foot?

Good afternoon Whiskey!

Hey Brightstar. I'm OK. I had surgery on my foot last Friday. My doc had to partially detach my achilles tendon, then strech it to move it, and then shave down some parts on my heel bone. There was no cushion in between the tendon and the heel bone, so the tendon was pushing the heel bone outwards. ( It looked like I had a big bump on the back of my heel that was still growing outwards). I know....Sounds disgusting. It was very painful for me to walk around on it. ( I felt like an 80-90 yr old person just walking around). Since my job requires me to stand (mostly in one spot), all day, and also alot of stairs and walking to enter and exit the building.....I said, "screw it! I have to get this done now!" I now have about 11 weeks left for it to heal enough, so that I can walk around, somewhat normal.

It's an Irish celebration (although almost everyone celebrates it somehow in the states) which recognizes the patron saint St. Patrick, and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. Also gives them, and us here, another reason to drink beer, sing, celebrate, and party etc. etc. Hope that I summed it up for you OK!

Well my great-grandfather was Irish(Northern Ireland) ;)so I always celebrate St Patricks day. Haha. Now I don't do the bar hopping anymore but my daughter and her friends have big plans for tonight.:toast:

Hi Kevin, I am so sorry to hear about your surgery. That is one painful place to have an injury. When I worked the emergency room years ago the one thing to bring grown men to their knees was a torn Achilles tendon, literally and emotionally! There are so many nerve endings around that area. Did you injury it or was it arthritis maybe? I'm glad they could fix it. Do they have you scheduled for physical therapy yet? The most important thing is to rest it and let it heal, don't overdo it. You can build scar tissue around that area while it's healing if you use it when you're not suppose to! Try to take advantage of the rest period! I'm wishing you a speedy recovery! I had knee surgery a few times, after i was hit by a drunk driver, so I know crutches are the worst! Pad your underarms well!

Hi all! I'm in and out today, I can't believe how warm it is here in Michigan! I've been pulling weeds from my flower beds already!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Thanks Brightstar! Therapy....not yet. I have to NOT put pressure on it at all, for the next 3-4 weeks (Doc says). Then, maybe just partial pressure. I have a big "Boot", that I will be using in the future. Getting ready to order some "crutch pads" for the tops, and hand areas of my crutches. I'm hoping that they will help! I'm really not sure what caused this to happen, but I did have heel spurs back in 2006. I took care of those, but this current issue (I beleive) started in mid 2010. I didn't find out what it was until Sept 2011, as it became more painful and noticable, and decided to wait until the new year, to get it taken care of. (Due to insurance deductibles, timing, etc.)------I'm OK for now.....It could be worse.

Kevin, if the pads you order still don't help, you can use a trick I did for patients. Get one of those memory foam pillows, cut it to fit the underarms and hand area, some soft material over it and use medical tape on the sides to hold it on. You can buy super soft sheepskin at some medical supply stores, this works great too! Have a great evening and feel better!

Just about one of the Best Songs made( Learning Life lessons and how we need to sit down and evaluate ourselves) I use to watch Ricky Nelson when he was a young boy on his Family show. It was a sad day when this very talented man died. If you haven't heard the full version you should.
