Nothing to see here... move along... just a vaper losing his mind... move along... pay no mind to the mini rant...

I'm on several forums, and a member of several Facebook Groups. In watching, reading, and responding to these over the years, I've learned a few things about the nature of the universe.

1. People don't read
2. People can't spell (or can't be bothered to care)
3. People are lemmings

Sounds cynical and negative, right? Consider the following examples taken from actual questions and answers...

Q. "I'm looking for a duel coil top air rta... what do you suggest."

A. "Peacemaker from squid industries"

Now, the Peacemaker is a fine RTA, I'm sure, but it's a single coil, bottom air RTA. Somehow, the Peacemaker, or the Fatality is always brought up. I don't get it...

Q. "What's the best single 21700 regulated mod right now?"

A. "Get the Aegis Legend"

A dual 18650 is the best single 21700? C'mon...

Q. "I want to get into RTAs. What's a good starter?"

A. "Goon 25!"

Really?

Q. "I'm not a cloud chaser... just want a MTL tank... what's available?"

A. "Falcon... it's the best!"

Sigh...

What have you seen out on the interwebs or in your local B&M that make you say WTF?

I do see the Falcon suggested a lot, but it is a great tank. I think I see the Profile recommended a lot more than the Goon though.
Yeah, maybe, but it's certainly not MTL.

The Profile is also brought up a lot. I have one and think it's fine for squonking. Not so much for dripping.

We see it here all the time. There are a lot of people with very little in the way of reading comprehension skills, either that or they think they know what you want better than you do.

I mean, it’s one thing to miss a spec someone is asking for, out of ten things they want, on a post as long as your arm. But when called out for recommendations that are not suitable, there are those who will fight about why this is better than what the OP asked for.

This applies universally, it’s not only in vaping that it’s common.

You should check out other technical forums – example of an Audio forum.

Q: Hi, I am looking for a cheap small amplifier to hook up to my bedroom TV

A: I saw a Boulder 3050 at an audio show, you should check it out…sounded great!

The Boulder 350 is $200K US, 2000+ watts and requires a team of WWE wrestlers to carry it into the house. 350lbs each channel!

Getting upset about things you see on social media is like intentionally stepping in dog doo instead of walking around it. A healthy dose of cynicism is good because it helps you recognize a thing for what it is. Humans are deeply flawed. We're motivated by self-interest more than principles, prone to laziness and and complacence. When called out, we deflect and point fingers instead of accepting criticism and improving ourselves. Some would take this as a prompt to slope into wretched nihilism. Stop to consider that you are exactly the same under other circumstances, and you'll see that it's still practical to "love thy neighbor as thyself" without hypocrisy or condescension. One of the key qualities of an influential person is forbearance.
