Getting upset about things you see on social media is like intentionally stepping in dog doo instead of walking around it. A healthy dose of cynicism is good because it helps you recognize a thing for what it is. Humans are deeply flawed. We're motivated by self-interest more than principles, prone to laziness and and complacence. When called out, we deflect and point fingers instead of accepting criticism and improving ourselves. Some would take this as a prompt to slope into wretched nihilism. Stop to consider that you are exactly the same under other circumstances, and you'll see that it's still practical to "love thy neighbor as thyself" without hypocrisy or condescension. One of the key qualities of an influential person is forbearance.
Pfft! Reason and mental stability are over-rated ... I say, burn them!

ironically a pretty good paraphrasing of the words of Jesus. Whether you happen to be Christian or not he was a smart dude.

I still remember a thread here on ECF dedicated to the kayfun V5. Whenever a new model is released by svoemesto someone always starts a dedicated thread for it. Anyway, The Kayfun V5 was released along with a pretty clear message that it is a direct to lung device. Straight away, on this dedicated thread, there were complaints by the op and others, that it wasn't any good for MTL and that it wasn't as good as they thought it would be but still thought they could make it work with the "airflow reducer kit" (sold seperately). These posts seemed linear thoughout the thread and all were in agreement with each others disappointment. Even when this fandamental error was pointed out (by me) the op was still going to stick to his guns. Made me laugh. And i still don't understand it.

I guess what bugs me most is bad battery advice.

I see You Tube reviewers using a notoriously bad battery brand (Efest, Imren, MXJO, Basin, etc). Viewers may think, "Hey this guy is a pro and is using that battery, so they must be a good brand." Maybe using those brands won't be critical if the user is using a regulated mod (except for poor performance), but in a mechanical mod those exaggerated amp ratings can be not only a performance issue, but a safety issue, too. The importance of accurate battery specifications often doesn't get taught. A battery is not "just a battery".

Walked into my local vape shop and noticed the only batteries he sold were MXJO and Imren. I asked why and the manager said he was able to get a good deal on them and the ratings on the battery were great.

One of the benefits of viewing this ECF forum, is sooner or later you're going to come across Battery Mooch. You'll discover that manufacturer brands make a huge difference in performance and safety. Only on ECF will someone tell you that the choice of battery you use is the most important decision you can make.

Almost sounds like an excerpt from a passage of a good book you have read?

    Exactly ^^^^

A few years ago I went to a local B&M and bought a mod on clearance. The guy behind the counter said "you get a free battery with that". He comes back with an Imren and I promptly, but politely, said "no thank you". The guy looked stunned and asked "you don't want this battery, but these are the best". I didn't want to get into it so I paid for the mod and split.

The posts that sort of "push my buttons" so to speak, are often found on the threads where someone is asking for recommendations for a new mod, tank, kit, etc. Inevitably there will be several posters who make suggestions to the OP...provide the specs for the items, state how they're so much better than other items suggested by other members, pointing out any/all possible faults of the other suggested items, etc. Then usually, buried somewhere in their own posts, or in their responses to questions about how they actually like the items they've recommended...is the info that they've personally never even tried, and/or don't even own, the items they're so highly recommending the OP. It almost seems like some sort of contest to see who can get the OP to buy what they've recommended, even if they have no experience with the items themselves at all. ;)

Some of the same people will also answer questions, make recommendations for flavorings, nic base, vendors of DIY supplies, methods for DIY, etc., and state their own preferences for things to do with DIY eliquid...when they don't DIY at all.

    I just don't get it.

JC, I don't know if you're going to get any likes for your most astute observations because…

    a) We all know it's true; and,
    b) We've all succumbed to the temptation, at one time or another.

    Good luck. :)

Which is why I posted this here and named no names rather than calling out every idiot I see offering bad advice on every thread.

Consider this missive a learning experience and avoid these issues by actually reading the posts and providing valid, helpful responses.

WHAT !!! Ya mean I can't be sarcastic anymore ?!?

In a nutshell, vaping is only complicated IF you want it to be.

    add:
Q: which mod should I buy?
A: which ever one you want.

Q: which atomizer should I buy?
A: which ever one floats your boat.

Not, but teachings that survived two thousand years must have value.

Perhaps I should revisit the Good Book.
