Im glad I saw this thread. IKV stopped selling his version of the Mega XLR Smoketec Cartos for some reason a little while back. I have been buying regular smoketeks from other vendors.

I had one shorter dual coil that tasted great! I bought a bunch of the 3 hole punched smoketeks and they taste absolutely horrible. I also bought a bunch of regular 1.7 single coils and they tasted horrible as well. I cant even vape these things. They taste burnt within a few minutes of using them. It has the burnt filler taste that you usually only get at the very end of a cartos life. Like 4-5 days of heavy vaping.

I thought I was losing my mind.

Heliguy..... there was a post with pics showing the "guts" of one dissected several pages back.
From what I've seen doing postmortems on a few of mine, the "diaper" around the coil burned quickly (sometimes within hours) and the surrounding polyfill took on the burnt look. It didn't seem (to me) that the polyfill itself was burned -- I was able to tease it apart easily using a dental pick.
IMHO, the polyfill is not as densely packed as earlier 1.7's. Not sure if this is what's leading to early failure or not. I only know that the last ones I purchased did not endure near as long as earlier 1.7's.
Anybody know if there has been any action by the mfg. to rectify this situation? I'm leery to get any more at this time.

Not sure who makes them, but after a run in with a bunch of bad smoktechs I went to these at Hoosier's: Pre Punched Replacement tank cartomizers

Went with the 2 ohm, dual coil, triple punched (3 tiny holes that works well with VG juices) and they've been working flawlessly. A little more expensive than your average 3 box deal, but the consistency's been worth it to me.

2ohm DC vapes pretty nice around 4.7 - 5v, massive plumes with a good TH.

Thanks for the tip. I use 100% VG, so good to know.

Keekers --- Do you think this "new" filler material is meant to replace the material that has been causing the problems? I also saw it and was wondering if that is what they meant. It wasn't really clear to me......but then again I'm elderly and have trouble understanding such erudite matters.....

 Stop giving yourself a hard time!
I think it's an old statement. I originally heard the same exact statement the website makes. New filler material, better wicking, etc.

I too have been tearing my single hair out (at 70, I only have one left).

Having trouble with the Boge Cartomizers now also. Burnt taste, flooding, etc.

I ordered a variety of Cartomizers from MadVapes. 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 Ohm in Dual Coil, with one prepunched hole and three prepunched holes.

So far I am having good success with their 3370 Tank Replacement Dual Coil Cartomizers, 2.0 Ohms, Triple Holes. When I run through that type, I'll try another type. I went to MadVapes because I had success with their 3369 Tank Replacement Dual Coil Cartomizers, 1.5 ohms, Triple Hole. Even though they have the bottom plate, they are still useable with my Who's Your Daddy Tank. They sit down in the top of the tank about 1mm, but the Drip Tip compensates for that depth.

Thanks Keekers for the clarification..... I'm trying my best to not feel or act elderly.....lol.....
So it sounds like the mfg. has not done anything to rectify the situation as of yet. I'm starting to think like Rodeo George and try all sorts of cartos until I find one that will do the trick. Just wish the makers of these devices would go back to the way things were and we wouldn't have to be trying so many different alternatives. I'm so leery now to make any kind of bulk purchase of cartos not knowing what I'll get.

Thanks for the info! I haven't gotten any bad Boges yet *crossing my fingers* but I just ordered 15 XL 3.0ohm Boges from CCV and I hope they are quality!

That's why I started trying attys!

Weeks have passed since this started and it's sad to see that nothing has happened to fix it.

My solution to the cartomizer problem has been to steer clear. I've stocked up on stainless steel CE2's and Stardusts while my standard tanks sit and gather dust.

You can slot a stainless CE2 and put it in a shorty tank. Hey presto- a tank carto that works and just keeps on working. I even got a VIVI Nova to avoid long ST tank cartos after one died on me after two days.

I miss the crackle of a good carto. I have a box of Boges sitting here that I bought recently (it has the old style label on the lid) I hope they are good ones. Nervous to try one though; my 3VO died and have been on KGOs waiting for my new device to come up on backorder

Love to All

I hope the Boges work for you! I would be really disappointed if the Boges started failing too. That's the only other carto I've ever tried but I'm going to have to try some different ones. I think I'll try a Stardust next. I keep hearing about them.
Hugs to a New Zealand friend :)

Anyone recently try the ccv resurrectors? I want to place a large order but am skeptical...

I recently tried 1.5 ohm single coil smok tech xl cartos from elsewhere and they seemed fine at first but I got a burning taste with 2 out of 4 I tried after the first few drags... someone mentioned it could be hitting the wire inside when punching, causing a short and bad taste.. they would only hiss for a millisecond then stop... if I unscrewed it a little, it would fire normally but taste awful.. I did an autopsy on one and saw no evidence of metal hitting the wire and only a touch of brown on the innards...

I think something else that is complicating the issue is that we don't know how long a supplier has held onto a stock of cartos... one place may be selling ones produced a year ago while another's may be more recent... Ill be contacting a few suppliers to try and find this out... maybe there was a bad batch a year ago and some suppliers are still selling fromthat period... hard to tell without a manufacture date.

Several suppliers seem to be elusive when asked for specifics which is quite annoying... some have said their smok tech rep said there have been no changes..

I wanted to post this because I think it's important for people to read before ordering any of these.

I hope it's ok I said the name of the manufacturer...I don't like infractions :(

I purchased apx. 30 Smoktech cartos from two different vendors and they all tasted like chemicals/cleaning solution before I boiled and flushed them. I thought it was maybe just me and my tastebuds but I just got my 15 deal pack of Boges today and they taste great.

Edit: I titled the thread wrong. It should just say bad batch of Smoktech cartos going around. It isn't just the LR 1.7 ohm cartos. Smoktech changed their filler

I have been using the Clear "smoketek" HV 2.0 Dual Coil Cartos. I have been getting a really bad taste on some of them. Almost like an "electrical" burning taste. I have been using Cartos for the entire year I have been vaping and I know how to fill them and get them wet so they don't dry burn. I have also had a few where the filler gets a hole burned into it. And I know 100% certain that I am not "dry burning" them. I don't know if anyone else is getting the same burned taste I am but I definitely am getting the same issue as the rest of you. I am glad to know that it's not just me.

Anyone recently try the ccv resurrectors?

I grabbed a box of ressurectors with an order of Boge XLs from CCV. Ressurectors are still having the same issues. Tried one, wasn't that great from the get go, and I threw it away in less than an hour of vaping.

Boges are okay, but not great. Seems like I get a day or so out of them, and then they won't take any juice.

Ordered some attys (IKV Cannons...waiting for the IKV store to be back up to try out some IO6s) to drip while I'm at home, and I'll keep the cartos for driving/ work. Pretty frustrated with cartos TBH.
