A few months ago, I bought four LG HG2 18650 batteries from MFS. I bought them in anticipation of needing new batteries, so, as recommended, I charged them up to 60% and stored them in a cool closet, recharging them to 60% again when they lost some charge.

So, recently I pulled them out and started using them. I charged them to full, and have since recharged them once more. However, a couple of them, once I use them down to about 75% full, return a "check battery" message on my device. At that point they read 3.72 volts on my voltage tester, but practically take no time to recharge. My devices, a Nebox and a Cupti, are working fine and work with other batteries. The batteries in question read 4.19 volts when fully charged.

Should I attempt to get a refund from MFS? The purchase was awhile back. MFS also said these batteries were perfect for sub-ohm devices. What could be wrong with the batteries?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I would contact them, but the return policy probably has a time limit.

Check out the prices at RTDVapor.com. You'll be surprised at the selection and reasonable prices they charge for 18650's. I'd use new batteries immediately after you get them to make sure they aren't old stock. A couple of years is all they are good for, used or stored and you don't know how long the vendor had them in stock.

I have some older batteries that are good and some that have lost much of their useful life. It's a gamble, so they are best used when new. At least you can determine their condition that way.

I've purchased AW button top for my ProVari's this past year from ProVape, RTD and a local B&M. All of them must have been "old" stock as they've not lasted as long as previous AW batteries. Figured since all new devices use flat topped batteries, the button top AW's are not moving off the shelves like they use to. :(

I talked to MFS and they have a 30 day warranty on batteries and a 60 day replacement policy, so he said I am out of luck. In the future I will test batteries immediately as advised. I asked him how long they might have been sitting in the warehouse and he said they get lots of orders for them and order fresh batches every other week. Maybe they were sitting in the LG warehouse for a long time, who knows.
