Just got our Vapor King set up from Vapor4Life and am having a hard time (coughing LOTS) with the tobacco flavors yet the mint and menthol don't seem to bother me. Any thoughts as to why?

Smoke about 2 packs of regular cigs a day.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I suspect that it's just that you're new to vaping. Menthol is used in cough drops to soothe your throat, so I'm pretty sure that it applies to vaping as well. For a week or so, I suggest strictly vaping menthol flavors and then try non-menthol to see if you're still coughing. Just my .02 cents.

Do you know the composition of the different liquids?

There may be VG in the mint and menthol to give it a sweeter finish and VG reduces the amount of Throat Hit and produces more vapor.

Easiest way to tell is the thickness. If the ones that produce less cough are a bit thicker than the ones that cause you coughing, then that would be it.

It may just be that the tobacco flavors you have tried just don't work for you?

Oh yeah, I forgot, lol. Like Hoosier said. You might also be allergic to PG.

Thanks for the replies. We bought the 2 piece with the carts so I'm assuming :)rolleyes:) that they are the same composition. The cough drop analogy seems to make sense tho.

Would like to mention also that the folks at Vapor4Life were great answering my pre-purchase questions and were lickity split on getting our stuff to us along with a few freebees. That will keep us coming back to them as well as recommending our friends to them.

Thanks Vapor4Life

Could it be that your lungs are trying to clear themselves now that you've put down the analogs? Or are you still smoking analogs? I know it's normal for people to cough up all sorts of nasties when they quit cigarettes, because the lungs are trying to cleanse themselves.

And like a previous poster said, maybe the menthol helps to sooth your throat, and in turn stops the inevitable coughing? IDK, just a thought.

Most people cough a bit more after they get off the tobacco. I have read that it is because your lungs are starting to heal and the cilia are starting to function as they should.

If you got the cartos from V4L they will have a little VG on them if they are VG based. Otherwise they are PG. Some people have problems with PG and some have issues with VG. Most are fine with either. If they are the same strength and the same base then it is likely that the menthol is soothing your irritation.

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

:)

If you gave up smoking then that's why you're coughing.
You can aso take a bigger 'hit' off the vapor than you think, which givs you a cough reflex, something your body has been lacking since about a week after you started smoking. For smokers to cough without illness takes a HUGE irritant - non smokers cough alot more because thats how your lungs work lol
We forget, cos its been so long. :)
I doubt you are allergic to PG unless you have other allergies in your history. I'd wait a bit, scale down slightly on the size of the drags you are making on yor PV, and see if it sorts itself out.

I'm not sure about the cilia functioning as they should hypothesis. The cilia in your lungs are paralyzed by the consumption of nicotine. However, making the switch the vaping allows your lungs to start clearing out the tar and gunk built up from analogues. This process is likely a little slower than it would be otherwise when consuming nicotine, but it is definitely faster if you are smoking less/no analogues.

Anyhow, when I first started vaping a few days ago, I noticed that it felt much more harsh than when I am smoking analogues. But my lungs are getting used to it, and I'm not coughing from drags on my PV nearly as often.

So, it could be you're just getting used to it, and the menthol flavoring is smoother than the others (like others said. :p)
