I just change the batteries on the prodigy.
Suddenly, nothing works, so i open the batt compartment and tons of smoke comes out.
a Burnt smell.

The resistor has burnt out ...

Don't even know why the resistor was there in the first place. I had ordered a 6 volt system.

anyone know if i unsolder the resistor will the produgy work on 6 ?
Or do i have to change the resistor?
Weird, though i am no expert, but as long as you have a connection running through that switch, it should work.

Edited to say, i just looked, and it looks like you would have to resolder the switch back into the circuit. since the connection runs from one end through the resistor, then to the atomizer. If you break that connection, i don't think it will work unless you reconnect it elsewhere.

I have used my warranty twice already.
I have 2 prodigy's and 4 pt's.

I'm not good with a soldering iron , but even a newbie solderer such as myself managed to unsolder the resistor, and re-solder a continuous circuit.

It seems Steve and Casey are overwhelmed by new orders, so i don't want to send stuff back unless it's critical.

I did have a critical situation when the adapter on one of the pt's cross threaded and could no longer get it to fit back on.

That too....i have a friend who has a huge milling facility in SW florida, who makes boat lifts...
He could re-thread this stuff in a heart beat.

I could not find the polish you mentioned in walmart. But they have another kind in the auto section (Mothers Mag& Aluminum polish).
Works really well on copper.

Other than that , getting all contact points dipped in 24k gold...
That will help conduct electricity.

It is my understanding that without the resistor, you run at 3.7 volts. The resistor is what pushes it up to the higher voltage.

IMO You have had many problems with your equipment, maybe you should just start over with a new unit, PS cant fix your problems if you dont give them a chance to do so. You should still be under warranty.

BTW- what is with that avatar? WHAT IS IT? :)

The resistor lowers the voltage of the 2 3v batteries (totaling 6) to 5v of output to the atty.

Without the resistor you get the full 6v from the battery.

I don't believe i just discovered something quite important after 12 weeks of vaping.

You know the cart tip. The black mouthpiece.
I use loose ones, fitting the atty because they are easier to remove and then drip liquid into atty.

Most of the time if a cart tip is too loose, I'm sucking air from the outside, and not the vapor from the inside.

I just tried a tightly fitting tip and vapor increased 80% (and i'm not sucking like a ......).

I wonder if newbies know this ?

Gibby, thanks for clearing that up for me. What do you do to use the prodigy at lower voltage, (I would not want to but wondering). My Prodigy shows 5.8 volts and I have the resistored switch. I love it!

You use 1 3.7 volt 18650 battery instead of the 2 rcr123 batteries. That's it. ;-)

Burning Up A Resistor = There is a short somewhere ... I highly doubt its the Adapter as we only had the adapter short early on with 40-50 adapters (3-4 months ago)

Likely cause is a bad atomizer. If the atomizer causes a short, it will not vape at all. The reason the resistor turns brown is because the user continue to try and push the button to get power. During this time, the resistor burns up, and the tube gets hott. It is only then they find out what happened.

Happens to the best of em quo .... Just take it steady next time your vaporizer doesn't vape. Don't continue to hold the down or press it any number of times in succession. If an atomizer isn't work, and it was not just after a battery switch, its best to try another one.
