bad taste in T-rex. Smell coming from atomizer. am I supposed to clean it before I use it?

I got this yesterday and determined that the bad taste I am getting is coming from the atty. It smells bad just like it tastes. anything I can do to get that smell/taste out?

Some atty's come with a primer in them and it tastes like machine oil. Rinse under hot water and blow out if that doesn't work soak in vodka or boiled water and blow out and see if the taste/smell goes away.
