same here, I make ejuice for folks at cost, sometimes free....I never say what it is....if they ask if there's liquid I say yes...sometimes they ask what it is and I say essential oils (close enough), then they ask if it's combustible I say no.
If you buy shipping online, you can bypass all that. You can either slip it in a blue box at you post office if it will fit or you can schedule a pickup (free) at your house at USPS.com.
Postage costs more at the post office counter anyhow. But my point here isn't about saving $$$, it's about bypassing the inquisition altogether.
Of course, you have to have a printer. Labels aren't necessary if you just print out on regular paper and tape the label to the package well.
Priority mail boxes/envelopes are free, shipped to you free, but if you want to use First class, bubble mailers can cost as little as $0.25 each at walmart and sams club. Probably Costco too.
You can buy shipping online through Paypal or on USPS.com. With paypal, I believe you have to have a credit card on file, though. Doesn't need to be charged to the CC, but it has to be on file in your account. Otherwise they will give you an error and you can't buy.
I'm not sayin XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, just sayin
ETA: Of course, you'll need a small postal scale. The small analog ones are cheap. But if you mix your juice by weight, or if you have a kitchen scale, then you already have a scale. If you're shipping a lot, the small investment in a scale is worth it. Just remember that rounding up to the next ounce is best practice. In other words, 6.1 oz = 7 oz package, 4.7 oz = 5 oz package, etc.
As for packing materials, use your imagination. You can save some of the packing materials you get when you buy stuff online, but you can also use various bags that you use when you buy stuff at stores. Newspaper, flyers, anything that you can stuff in the package without increasing the weight too much will work.
Also, even if buy postage online but want to take ti to the counter to get scanned in, I have done this, and they never ask my questions. Maybe this varies from post office to post office, I don't know. But I think they might just not bother when you bring in metered mail.
