coolone1,

Interesting on the 510 - can't wait to try a 5v bart. It seems you normally prefer the 510 right? Because I recall some problems with the 901 earlier.

To me the 501 is a little harsh with the 5v. The 901 is a lot smother. Right now I am using the 501 with the original Bartleby and I get a lot of vapor and it is a smoother vape.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Having fired up the 5v usb extension from PS, I know what you're talking about. But yeah, the 510 seems to be made for the Bartleby.

Not gonna read the whole thread to see if this has been answered, but can you charge the Bart via USB and vape it at the same time? And does it use protected or unprotected batteries? Or is there protection built into the Bart circuitry itself?

TIA

Yes, you can vape while charging, and it uses protected 14500 batteries.

My 3 week old bartleby broke today (well sort of). The tab snapped off the cover as I was changing the battery. Now the cover will not stay on without tape(which looks SO attractive). The tab is SO small I could not find it anywhere. I missed half the Eagles game trekking down to Radio Shack looking for a replacement that would fit and they had NONE(fun, fun, fun).I emailed Jay about 15 minutes ago and am expecting to see the great customer service everyone on this thread has expressed. I'll keep everyone informed. Happy Holidays.

Well Jay(Cybervex) came thru. He returned my email fairly quickly and sent out a replacement cover as soon as he got back from vacation. Everything is now A-Ok with my Bartleby and the electrical tape era is over. Thanks Jay.

The connector is sealed, but it's recessed within the box a bit. On one occasion (after quite a bit of heavy usage/abuse) I managed to flood it pretty badly and leak a tiny bit of juice out of the battery connector and in to the box, but since the electrical components are pretty well sealed it didn't do any damage.

So you can safely drip with it (that's all I do), and if you flood your atty a bit you won't have the problem I did as it will just leak in to the battery connector.. but if you really overdo it there's potential for trouble.

Jim,

What stomp... said - everything vital is in epoxy. I wouldn't say 'impossible' but highly improbable unless you were trying to do it. Besides, anything much over 3 drops usually floods a 510 atty anyway.

That said, I've had the occasion of seeing some juice along the 'slide' of the top to where I open it up and take a paper towel and clean off the epoxy. If there's any downside to the Bart it would be that replacing a switch would be a chore but the offset is no shorting of the switch.

Is the 510 connector sealed and is it safe to direct drip?
I.e., IF I flood the atty is juice going to get inside the mod????

I concur with what others have said, the epoxy coating covers everything except for the on/off switch assembly at the very bottom. I use the spring mod, and one time I incorrectly seated the polyfill at the top of the cart when I placed it into the atomizer. I, essentially, ended up dumping the entire contents of the cart into the atty all at once. Obviously it leaked into the inside of the device. But even with the contents of an entire cart dripping down into the innards, the leakage never reached the unprotected switch assembly at the bottom. I just wiped off the epoxy and wiped out the rest of the liquid and was good to go.

I just read every post in this entire thread AND watched Mooby's video.

The 3.7 volt Bartleby with the USB port looks like a great device, but the one thing I haven't seen addressed:

Is the 510 connector sealed and is it safe to direct drip?

If you are concerned, or a very messy dripper he will also make it without recessing the atty connector.

Well if the atomizers work fine on another batt and if "volts are good" means the volt reading at the Bartleby's connector (you want check the positive at the point where the atty will mate) is fine, 4+V on a fresh charge, the only thing left is the Bartleby's connector (the center positive) is not making good contact with the atties positive connector. This is not uncommon. I notice even many reviewers crank down the atty way more than is needed. You could try a good cleaning of the threads first.

Maybe some help here:

I have 2 Bart's with 510's I rotate 10 atty's
My problem is they are starting to flood all the time I have not changed any thing
If I put cart on regular 510 batt it works fine
any suggestions

What do you mean by 'flood' here? Do you mean leak? or attys flooded where you're not getting vapor? Have you changed juice?

And why are you rotating 10 attys? Perhaps with all that changing you've messed up the threads to where you're leaking.

I'm not sure here I can get a few good vapes and then reduced vapor start leaking through the vent ports on threads
when checking slow start up on atty getting glowing red
but still out side getting very hot
I think my atty's are going changed to new ones seems to be doing better
I was trying to make them last but apparently that didn't work8-o
I'm running them up to 20 hrs a day right now
don't get me wrong I love them I'm thinking of getting 5 volt
or if these go out I will defiantly get two more
I'm am that impressed with them:thumbs:
