I'm not sure here I can get a few good vapes and then reduced vapor start leaking through the vent ports on threads
when checking slow start up on atty getting glowing red
but still out side getting very hot
I think my atty's are going changed to new ones seems to be doing better
I was trying to make them last but apparently that didn't work8-o
I'm running them up to 20 hrs a day right now
don't get me wrong I love them I'm thinking of getting 5 volt
or if these go out I will defiantly get two more
I'm am that impressed with them:thumbs:

First - everything should be tightened down of course. Second - if you're using certain ptb mods - they can leak. Third, if you're using certain juices - JC in particular although they may be changing that but the 'older JC" but not the real old JC juice ;-) which is good! then you might be leeking. If you're using both JC juice with a ptb mod then you're in trouble. lol.

The other thing would be if the coil is so caked with juice residue that it's affecting the resistance and it's getting hotter than it should. In that case, if it were me, I'd soak the attys in 151 for a hour or two - blow them out completely dry - a couple drops on the bridge and back at it. You could take a multimeter to them and see what range they are in, but do the 151 vodka bath first. And like you say, they really could be on their way out although I have some I've been using for 6 or 7 months that do just fine.

Question for the Bartleby crowd:

I have 4 Bartlebys. 3 of them are 901's with a recessed atty connector, the forth is a 510 with a flush atty connector. I've had to send 2 of the 901's back for repair within 4-6 weeks of getting them because they just quit working. I couldn't find any evidence of juice inside the units, but I guess it's possible.

Does it make sense that a Bartleby with a flush atty connector would give fewer problems?

thanks KentC I will try this weekend if I get time off one other thing I've been thinking about I work out side in very cold weather and the juice gets thick and the Bart's get cold even when I keep in shirt pocket .Do you think in and out of cold would trigger this problem?

Well we know that metal can expand and contract but I've been out in the cold with the Bartleby for long periods and haven't had that problem so I'd be cautious of attributing it to that.

There's no doubt that the probably of problems drops with a flush connector. I've not had a problem but on occasion I'll get juice that on mine first start showing up on the junction of the top with the bottom. I open it up and paper towel off everything, including battery. Doesn't happen often but with 4 it can happen once every 4 or 5 days. But I like the recess ;-)

the forth is a 510 with a flush atty connector.

How'd you manage that? My 510 Bart has a recessed atty connector, I thought that's how they all came. Did you request that feature specifically?

Although I like the appearance of the recessed 510 atty connector, on the rare occasion that there is a leak, it makes it more difficult to identify and clean.

I e-mailed him and asked if he could do it, and he said yes. :)

I wanted one to use with adapters, which is next to impossible with the recessed atty connector. It works well but it does look a little funny with the atty sticking out so far.

I'm with Kent C on this. I like to rotate my attys every couple weeks. The ones I just finished the week with I blow out really well, swish and soak in crest pro health mouthwash an hour, blow out, swish/soak in everclear another hour, blow out, and let dry overnight. I learned this technique here of course, and I think Kent C was one of the teachers LOL. The performance return is amazing. Don't forget to reprime those dry ones before using, like he said.

I just ordered a bartleby last week because of good reviews and good customer service. Are there alot of complaints on this thing? I'm kind of shocked on that one that burned up for no apparent reason.. Also I wasn't given an option of ordering with color, is this possible?

As far as complaints go - there was one that I saw that was 'pilot error' and it was fixed by cybervex. In fact, the lack of complaints is unusual. Not to put others down but check out some of the other mod threads or forums. But some have been around longer than the Bart too. As far as the burned up one - more info needed.

Last I heard - no colors, although you could always try a request - that was something that happened during his day job that isn't the case now :) as I understand.

I've got a dilemna. My buddy Kent C lent me a couple of his Bartleby's so I could experience the joy and happiness that comes from vaping from a true 3.7V and 5V device.

But shock and horror.. NINJAS broke into the house a couple of hours ago. They kicked my wife's dog (for which I gave them each $50), and then stole the Bartleby's (and nothing else).

How am I going to explain this to Kent?

No need. Those were My Ninjas. I heard you were doing battery experiments on the level of Frankenstein, and I thought - 'screw that' - and had them recovered before too much damage was done. I did tell them not to mess with the dogs though. Idiots! Check your paypal account and tell the wife - 'sorry about that'.

anyone else have a review of the 5v bartleby with a 510 ? I'm thinking about getting one but I've seen more than once in this thread (maybe it was the same person?) of 5v bartleby 510 being too harsh. however others are loving 6v 510 on silver bullets so is it just personal preference or is there something about the bartleby at 5v that makes it harsher than a 6v silver bullet?
I think I'd like the form factor of the bartleby at 5v better than a silver bullet for portable high volt vaping so I'm hoping for some good reviews

Val,

I blew out 2 510 attys by not paying attention. Vets at 5 and 6 volts know better and it may very well be for those that the 510 performs as they like on both. For me and perhaps for others that don't want to have to pay that much attention - the 510 will run on the 3.7v version of the Bart well. Most people who vape on HV also drip so they ARE paying more attention - I'm sure one would develop a habit to know when to get off the button but I know that my mind wanders :) it was that part of smoking that I really enjoyed. Hope that helps.

It isn't that I don't recommend the 5V for everyone, just for people like me and in that case, I find it best for the cooler 901 and cartos and frankly I don't care if I burn out a carto now and then. I may have gotten one so far but it takes more much to do that than the hotter 510.

OK. I've read the entire thread (research hound), and decided on a 3.7V, which I will order shortly. My only question is, what is the advantage of owning two instead of one? It seems that I could just swap out drained batteries for fully-charged ones when necessary, and/or charge between vaping sessions. OTOH, it's always good to have a backup.

I'm new to this. I've lurking on the forum since early January, and within a few days decided on a 501. I ordered two disposables from MadVapes while I waited for my kit from Heaven Gifts. I'm loving it, but still working out a lot of things. I was going to order a few mega batteries, but stumbled on this thread (thanks Scottbee).

I see, thanks for the info. I melted a cart my first day of vaping because my mind wandered as you described and decided then to just drip because I could forsee myself doing that again. like you say you are forced to pay more attention if you have to drip every few puffs.

I should just get a 3.7 and a 5 and sell/trade one on the forum if its not for me
