So, girlfriend came home from work and guess what? Hers is running cold also. Wtf? Rebuilt both addys to no avail. Here's the only thing that has changed with both devices since this all began. We started running two brand new VTC5As last evening. They're sourced from a Mooch recommended vendor (Lion) so I'm assuming they're legit. Is this just a coincidence? Anyone heard of this?

Both run cold. Both taste burnt with big draws. TC isn't working in either (SS coils now), but if I fire mine at less than 300 degrees 'temp protection' flashes and prevents firing.

I suppose I wanted to hear someone say it had nothing to do with the batteries. A little sensitive to that having just been through a battery fiasco elsewhere. In any event new builder at 5pm today. GF ripped out a couple solid SS coils and wicking:

.31 ohms (mine-pictured)
.34 ohms (hers)

Whole thing's puzzling.

Tried BYPASS on both vapes. Getting good vapor, hit and very cold. Also confirmed pre-heat was shut off.

Uncertain regarding TC as it still is not functioning properly. If you could see the whimpy, cold little hit you get after a solid draw you'd agree. Neither of us typically uses it. We were just diagnosing in pursuit of ANY warm vape.

Well I say it...

I Don't Think it has Anything to Do with the Batteries. LOL.

Seems like You're Stuck. Why don't you see if you can Unstuck yourself by trying a New Spool of Wire?

Maybe some 26ga Kanthal A1?

I second the motion ... it's not the batteries :)

I ran your coil through Steam Engine and got a heat flux of 512 at 37 watts. 512 is why you're experiencing burnt hits. Don't know about how the TC handles in your mod.

If you don't have thicker wire I would try adding a couple of wraps to the coil, taking the resistance to around 0.75 ohms and the heat flux to around 330. If you have 24 gauge wire, the same 5/4 wraps will give you around 0.34 ohms and a HF of around 370. Both of these should give you a better vape and you can still turn the power up a bit without burning juice. In my Merlin I would consider these vapes warm.

Good luck with it :thumb:

That's what I was thinking and maybe use it in wattage mode, its easy enough to adjust for the right vape. Never use mine in TC mode. I use all my regulated mods like mech mods lol.
