Basic questions for a newbie

Hello, I am super new to all of this so please excuse me if I mess up all of this up. I have a Vision Spinner, with an Aspire BDC. The clearomizer I have now is plastic, and I want to get a glass/Pyrex one. I have a lemon liquid that I was to use on a regular basis, but I was told that because of the acidity it can deteriorate the plastic rather quickly. I really like the Aspire as it is a super simple set up. I have seen the glass ones online, but I have no idea how to tell if they fit. I also would like to try a PG free liquid, but again I was told that a pure VG liquid would clog up my coil, and I wouldn't be able to vape, or I would have a dry vape. I'm not to sure what that means also. Now I don't know if these things were told to me because the store I was in carried none of these things, or if they really were trying to help. Any help that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

Your vision spinner has both ego and 510 threading, so you can use pretty much any tank on it. For a slim glass tank, I find the kanger mini protank II's to be great. I vape boba's bounty in them which is 100% VG and without issue. I usually take the flavor wicks off if I start to get any wicking issues. A dry hit is experienced when the juice is not wicking properly to the coils, and believe me, you will know it when it happens. As long as the glass clearomizers (also called glassomizers) have 510 or ego threading they will fit on the spinner. I don't think I've ever come across a glassomizer that doesn't use one of threadings so you should be safe - but do check the product information to be sure. I've never used 100% vg juices, but from what I've read they are thicker and will therefore leave more residue on the atomizer coils and wick slower, the latter may result in not enough juice getting to the coils and that you therefore get a nasty dry hit. Usually this can be avoided by removing one or more of the "flavour wicks" that sit on top of the coils. How you do that depends on the construction of the clearomizer. Hope this explanation wasn't too confusing...

I like the mini Protank 2 for the eGo type batteries. It's the same width as an eGo and it doesn't make it too top heavy. I use 100% vg or high vg in my Protank 2's and it does tend to clog the coils quicker. But since I rebuild my coils, it's not a big deal to change them out after every tank.

Definitely don't use lemon in your plastic clearo. It will surely melt the plastic.

If you like the Aspire, then definitely try the glass version. It will fit on your Spinner with zero issues. If you want to use the Aspire coil heads with 100% VG, then you will also have no issues. PBusardo did a great review on the Aspire and just raves about it. He tested it with Boba's Bounty, a 100% VG liquid with no issues. Here's a link to the video.

Do you clean your coils? I have seen videos, and have read different things online about cleaning them by running them under water, and then doing the dry burning thing.

I am with you. I would recommend Pro Tanks for anyone starting out with this situation. Not because I think they are the best, but because there are an abundance of tutorial videos on them.

A flavor wick doesn't really have to be long. A coil is a wire wrapped around a wick, a flavor wick is just a wick on top of that. (from my limited understanding).

there are 2 basic clearomizers - top coil in which you see the long wicks hanging down (these generally do not have flavor wicks) and bottom coil in which you can only see very short stubs of wick (these generally do have flavor wicks whose main function is to prevent the coil from flooding with thin liquids (high pg) but are removable with thick liquids (high vg) to aid in wicking

your biggest problem with fouling a 'coil' will be sweeteners in juice
thicker juice CAN lead to wicking problems

a hot water wash before coils get bad is the way to go

You might also call around and see if yo can the just the tank so you can upgrade yours.

As far as tank cracking fluid, yo can test it by putting 1 or 2 drops of the fluid on the outside of the tank, leave it for an hour then check it for dis-coloration, if none, fill her up and vape away!

Another option to the glass is solid metal tanks, there are several places that sell replacement tanks made of aluminum for the vivi nova.

Several advantages present them, they will be less breakable than the glass, they commonly retail for $3.00 or so and the viewing window on the glass aspire tank is pretty much worthless unless yo have really strong light and magnifiers...

Thanks so much. I'll check out that Aspire. I also think I am going to try and washing my coil on one of the ones I have. I was vaping a chocolate mint juice, and it's just not working as well as when I started. I love this juice, but I can totally understand how that would clog up a coil now. I have watched a few videos on YouTube about how to do it. Is there any one better than the other?

I take my clearos completely apart, put the parts in a ramiken or small glass or bowl and put it under the kitchen tap. run the hot only for 4 or 5 minutes, let sit for ten, drain, blow out coil by mouth, let dry overnight.

You can also use vodka and a shotglass..... but I do not mind wasting a gallon or so of water and since I have two sinks I can wash dishes at the same time just moving the faucet back and forth...

sometimes hot water just isn't strong enuff to cut through residue build up
on the coil, so using PGA (pure grain alcohol), Everclear, or Vodka to soak coils will
break gunk loose and make coils almost new again (remove old stubborn flavors too)

I find cheap Vodka is the cheapest and works wonders for me
(100ml Skol, plastic bottle at wallyworld-$1.42)
I use the cap off a juice bottle to hold the coil, very little vodka needed

I like my black Evods for my black Ego type batteries but if you want glass... the Mini Protank is the way to go.
