I know I'll probably catch some flack for this, but so be it. This is my FAVORITE device on the market. I literally could not live with out it at this point. Simple to use, convenient to charge, and easily pocketable - these things make it a winner for me. Despite what some see to be a tricky button and wonkly design, I don't mind it. The swinging arm is a love-hate thing for me, but overall...this is a winner in my book!

The aspect ratio is a bit screwy...I have fixed it, so it will be back to normal going forward. Apologies in advance.

Well said. The customer service alone makes the Darwin worth seriously looking at.

Thanks! And you're totally right! Brandon could have easily told me to get bent, and I'd gladly have shelled out for a new Darwin...but he took care of me instead, and I bet he will for you too!

igetcha did a review on this mod... and i agree with him.... that thing is UUUUUUUUUUUUUgly. but each his own. Ill stick with my provari.

I personally have already made my mind up on this device. The darwin is like having a lamborgini engine in a VW runs good really fast but no one wants to drive it because of its looks. I believe a mod should have good looks be professional looking and totally be functional. Darwin dont even have a catchcup for dripping... No sale for me.

thanks for the review...

I think it is all about atomizer selection. Basil will my 306 DCA fit on the Darwin when I get it? If not I am going to IKen vape and geting some of the 3.5 i306's. Did you mention that they were the new I306 not the the regular 306? I only noticed that you had the i306 drip tip and assumed that is what you had.

Unfortunately, my DCA doesn't allow for the arm to close when attached. It MIGHT if you forced it just a bit, but I am not a fan of that. Been using the HV I06 on it...its the first time I have ever gotten a good combo at 6v

Works fine on my first ever released version darwin. The arm seems to have a little bit of play and from what I've seen from pictures of the internals it seems that the arm is fully encased within a pocket in the aluminum body - so I think it's meant to have a little play. The arm does bend up a little bit with this hooked up to it, I don't think it will cause any problem with the device.

I agree fully with your review, the darwin's form factor is something to hate and love at the same time. Love the ease of use, pull it out and vape and when you're done close it and put in your pocket. My provari is way too awkward to carry around on the go in my pocket. Locking the device is way too much of a pain in the .... For vaping any voltage you like on the go - this is where it's at.

The igetcha guy said he had recieved the device from a friend, calls it a review. More like a "first impression". There's no way you can spend a day or a couple of days with any device and give an accurate review until you've spent time with it and put it through its rounds.

Great review!

Great review!

This is why I will NOT review a device until it has seen 5 consecutive days of use as the ONLY device I use! You gotta' know your stuff! :vapor:

That being said, I think Scott might have felt differently after a couple days, but I do get some of what he said.

Thanks BR for putting up a review.....there are alot of us "driving" the Darwin.... I had been looking for you and Grimm to do a review....now just waiting for Grimm's...

Being that Nick doesn't have one...you might be waiting a while! Hopefully you aren't holding your breath too tightly! ;)

nope, no breath holding here.....was suprised a little when I went on a "hunt" for Darwin video reviews that I was able to find 11, so far.....pretty consistant reviews, for the most part....

hi mate,

im not sure why yourself and other people think that just because i borrowed the Darwin from a friend that it means i only used it for a day or 2..........i had it for around 8 days before i recorded the review!!!!

i always use a device for at least 5 days before i even think about hitting the record button. if i wanted to do a 1st impressions vid then i would have done so.........but im pretty certain 7 or 8 days of use is plenty of time to come to my own conclusions :)

EDIT: in the 1st minute of my review i stated that the Darwin i was reviewing was 2 weeks old...my friend had it for a week before sending it to me.......so as the americans would say, "do the math!" :D lol

anyway, glad to hear that you are enjoying your Darwin mate

happy vaping!

cheers

scott

Got that right.....and their 2 year warranty will transfer if you sell it.....and free battery replacement for one year (and only 25 bucks after that)....and here is something I found on Evolv's site :

Our mission at Evolv is simply to make the most consistent and high tech electronic cigarette device offered on the market today.

Our patented power design allows us to automatically regulate power thus producing unmatched consistency and usabilty.

The Darwin, our first released product, allows the user to adjust the settings to their particular tastes and expectations, eliminating the need for different units. Our long life rechargeable battery eliminates the need and the expense of frequent battery changes.

We hope you will experience the "Darwin difference" for yourself. We are so sure that you will agree that it is the finest electronic cigarette experience that we offer a 7 day "no questions asked" return policy.

Hey Scott!

Didn't mean to put words in your mouth! I think I skipped the opening details to get into the "good stuff". But in the end, it's always good to see that each vaper/reviewer has his/her own personal preferrence!

Glad to see you're also a proponent of the "5 days of use before review" school of thought! I think there is definitely a difference between those of us who do, and those who do not (not to sound too high and mighty).

Lastly, I need a friend like your's who buys high end devices and lets me play with them right away! :p

Later!
Basil

I've heard so many great things about this device, and just recently, I was torn on which device to purchase (between this and what I obviously went with, the ProVari).

A few things that made me choose the ProVari over the Darwin:
-The on/off arm- It's unique, no doubt, but for my personal purposes, it's an inconvenience. I shudder to think I would have to take a tank or larger cartomizer (what have you), off every time I wish to turn the unit off or on. Specifically for dripping, it's not as bad, but even still, I don't think a drip shield can be on while the arm is in the 'off' position, can it?

-No changeable battery- Perhaps this is just something I could easily have gotten over, but in my state of thinking (that of never using a device with a built-battery), it seems another inconvenience. Though I cannot say for sure, since I've never tried it out. The inconvenience being, of course, having to send the device in to eVolve to have the battery swapped.

-Rattling sound- This is just a nit-pick, but, still a minor concern of mine none the less. Were I to pay $200+ for a device, I expect no rattling. Rattling sounds in a device like these is a conditioned sound (learned in my mind) to equate to something that is broken. Of course I know it isn't, but my mind will need re-conditioning to think otherwise and that is another, albeit minor, inconvenience.

If one day eVolve were to redesign the device and addressed my personal concerns, I'll surely acquire myself a Darwin V2, or whatever they will call it. It seems like an excellent device and the super 1up I personally believe the Darwin has over the ProVari is the stored wattage setting. (Which we all know, the ability to set the wattage and retain it, no matter what atty/carto resistance being used).

Nice review Basil, I always look forward to watching. You need to come up with a get-rich-quick scheme, as to allow you more time to make more videos
