Not sure I see it that way. Their product will be just as hard as all the others to licence. I think it more of a sign that the tobacco companies have a good hold on UK government. Just last week our PM scrapped plain packaging on stinkies against the backdrop of the EU trying to pass that Europe wide. Good news is that if they can get away with it, they would not be doing it if they didn't think they could, it will be very difficult to regulate then as ok and the rest as not ok.

BAT bought out Intellicig which has been working on producing a medicinal electronic cigarette for years now.
So yes, it should be MUCH easier for them because they are years ahead of the competition.

Clever name. "Vype" is about the way that I hear the word "vape" being pronounced by some Brits.

That's probably how BAT's execs thought it was spelled after hearing it so often.

I just thought of my visits to the UK after posting. It's got to be more pleasing to hear someone say, "Let's have a vype mate." rather than, "Let's go out and suck on a ...."

One of the very few 'players' who will easily secure/maintain (pay for) a MA to openly sell a 4mg/mil cig-a-like.

The proposed EU TPD would allow the sale of 4mg/mil e-cigs (but no higher) as consumer products throughout the EU (except in countries that ban them).

But under the proposed EU TPD, the UK MHRA (and drug/medicine regulatory agencies in other EU countries) would still retain its legal authority to approve/license any type of e-cigarette products (including different levels of nicotine) as drugs/medicines. Whether or not the

Are you sure? If so, some evidence would be appreciated. I thought Intellicig was/is now called Nicolites (or that Intellicig was/is an e-cig sold by Nicolites).

Several years ago, BAT created Nicoventures to develop/market e-cigs and other new smokefree alternatives.

Nobody should be surprised that BAT is now selling e-cigs, as the company has publicly said it would be doing so for the past 2-3 years.

BAT, NJOY and Nicolites have lots of money to pay for applying for (er buying) a license from MHRA for one or two of their e-cig products (and/or for products that will be made to comply with future MHRA e-cig standards).

In the past week, NJOY and Philip Morris have endorsed FDA regulation of e-cigs for similar reasons. I expect Reynolds, Lorillard and one or several other large e-cig companies in the US to either endorse, or to endorse the concept of, FDA regulation of e-cigs.

And then when the FDA officially proposes the "deeming" and other e-cig regulations, most/all of the news media will report that the e-cigarette and tobacco industry supports FDA regulation of e-cigs (as the news media inaccurately considers "industry" to be just the largest companies in any industry).

See here...intellicig-USA.com Buy Intellicig EVO Electronic Cigarette & ECOPure by intellicig, The intelligent e-smoking e-cig alternative.
Additionally, I believe I saw BAT's Vype on a Intellecig's site

Also the TPD has been amended to include all ecigs, not just above 4mg. Now 0 nic is included. I'v no idea how enforceable that is, I presume it will apply to companies selling licensed produce containing nic and not to companies selling exclusivity 0 nic shisha sticks.
I heard it had been changed to 1mg but I can not confirm that.
The people that said that know their stuff, but I was shocked I hadn't seen it mentioned here.

For me personaly, this is about right and wrong, I have no fight as such, I know the battles and I know the likely victors and losers.
Nicotine is 'the currency' - I dont buy that

There's no doubt about it. I have seen in so many threads, members with the "I'll be alright" attitude and only think for themselves. A lot of those folks aren't fighting. A lot of people will be alright, including me. Though, I want everyone to experience the same industry that we have had the pleasure of experiencing. A BT run industry would kill vaping for those who have never had a chance to try it yet. That review made me cringe and is indicative of what is to come if we sit back and let it happen!
