Items Ordered:

Ok, that's what I ordered, and now am second guessing if I have decent batteries to use, or are they gonna blow up in my face. I couldn't find AW IMR batteries from any of the vendors I use, and these looked like decent ones. I will be using the 18500's with a kick, or so I planned, and the 18650's unkicked, in a smok natural that is coming at the same time.

Will these be ok, and is there anything I need to know beforehand?

Hi elewellin. You should only use high drain batteries like the AW IMRs with the Kick. More info here:

The Kick – Instructions « Evolv

The 18650s will be okay without the Kick, but TrustFires aren't the best. You'd be better off with an AW P18650 2600mAh, which is generally considered to be the best Li-ion battery in its class.

JJ

EDIT: You might want to start a thread in the Canadian Forum to find out where your fellow Canadians get their the AW IMRs from.

In Canada, JR Custom Turnings has AW IMR 18650: AW IMR 18650 - 2000mAh

I expect the 3000 mAh trustfire will probably have enough oomph to run okay with a Kick, though not the best performer. The 1800 would be more marginal. As always, if the manufacturer has a specific recommendation it's best to follow it (contact Evolv).

Thank you, google has been giving me no help today lol. Another quick question, will the same chargers work for these type of batteries?

I'll never buy Trustfire batteries again. Protected?

I only use AW or Efest IMR's in both mechanical and VV mods.

A decent number of protected batteries have current trip points in the 2C+ zone, so a 3000 mAh can be used to push over 20W (3.7V x 6A) They don't, however, tend to provide as good a discharge characteristic at high amps -- may tend to be a bit saggy, provide a good chunk less than the nominal total capacity.

I like AW, they have consistently good performance, whether protected ICR or IMR, but don't automatically knock everything else. I've used black flamejacket Trustfire 16340 in a stacked VV, they worked fine, and their protection circuit really did cut in when drained far enough.

(The best batteries in that particular PV, from a runtime perspective, happened to be "non-protected". They actually do have some minimal protection, PTC, but I would never use them in a PV without knowing that the PV itself had multiple layers of protection, is a truly engineered device. I get as good or better run time from a pair of those 16340 as I do with a pair of AW IMR 18350, in devices using precisely the same electronics.)
