Battery chargeable through USB-port?

Can I charge a Sony vtc6 (18650) in an istick pico 75 tc through the usb port or do I have to invest in a battery charging device ?
If that's the case can you recommend a good and affordable charger?

Technically you can, but it's always suggested to use a good charger. I never charge batteries through the USB if they are external, but nice to know it's there in an emergency.

In follow up, you can get good chargers made by Nitecore and Xtar. Both have fans around here.

If you're wondering about the whys and wherefores, there are two reasons to use an external charger:

1. The lifespan of mod USB ports tends to be poor, and if it dies under regular use you won't be able to upgrade the firmware or do anything else with it.
2. More importantly, a good charger has more safety features than a mod and might also be easier on the battery, extending its lifespan. Just make sure your charger is good - as Eskie says, Xtar and Nitcore both make quality products at reasonable prices.
