Hello,

I have 2x MXJO 3000Mah and 2x Vapecell 3000Mah.

I would like to buy a charger.

I would like to choose either OPUS BT-3100 or Nitecore D4.

I have read that OPUS has extra features like Testing, refreshing, discharging...etc, which could be an advantage to make sure that the battery is genuine? also has fan, but Nitecore looks modern and alluring.

Which one is worth it in your opinion?

Thanks

Either charger will work fine, I'd add the efest luc v4 to the list.
I'm not an opus bt 3100 fan, the two Ive owned both had at least one function or feature that stopped working, one had a entire bay that quit functioning at all. The fan can be a plus when charging 4 cells at a time, if you need the airflow.
Neither lasted more than a year.
I have an efest luc 2 bay about 4 years old that still is my most reliable trouble free charger.

No charger is going to tell you if a cell is genuine/authentic, the two cells you mentioned are both re wrapped cells that an actual manufacturer produced.

MXJO Yellow/Silver 35A 3000mAh 18650 Bench Retest Results...a dangerously overrated 20A battery!

MXJO Yellow/Silver 35A 3000mAh 18650 Bench Retest Results...still an overrated battery

MXJO Yellow/Silver 35A 3000mAh 18650 Bench Test Results...only a 15A-20A battery, but near an HG2

Vapcell Purple 25A 3000mAh 18650...it’s a 20A VTC6A rewrap, better than VTC5A

I find it a bit ironic that the two brands that you listed are "re-wrap" companies. Neither actually make the cells they sell under their name, but re-wrap the cells made by Lg, Samsung, Panasonic/Sanyo, or Sony or made by some unknown Chinese manufacturer, then charge an arm and a leg for an allegedly "superior" battery with over-rated specifications. You may wish to define what you mean by identifying a battery that is "genuine".

Are You Using a Rewrap (Rebranded or Aftermarket) Battery?

  • Learn what a rewrap cell is. If you are using rebranded cells, does that mean it is inferior, poor quality, or even dangerous? Which batteries are suspected to be rebranded batteries?
Both charger brands (Opus and Nitecore) are reputable brands. The Opus is a more expensive and sophisticated charger which offers features which the Nitecore doesn't. Neither charger will help you identify whether your batteries are "genuine". There is no easy way to determine whether batteries are so-called "genuine", other than to purchase only from a relatively small list of reputable battery suppliers that guarantee that their batteries are authentic brand names.

As long as they're trusted, well reviewed chargers, I'd get the one that appeals to you most. I have a nitecore intellechareger 2 bay and it's been fine. It does have features that may appeal to one person and not another (speedier charging, for example).

I would for sure review all the opinions and etc. but ultimately, as long as it's a reasonable charger, go with the one that you like. (Just my opinion as always).

For speed the miboxer C4-12 can charge across all 4-bays at 3amps which will come in handy if you move up to the 2*700 sized batteries. The opus seems nice but I was considering the opus or a liitokala lii-500 which have identical features but the liitokala doesn’t have a fan. I went with the liitokala because a review said it doesn’t pulse charge like the opus. I’m not going to pretend I know what that means but the reviewer said pulse is no good for lithium ion cells. Flashlight information This is the site with reviews of the chargers which is all we got until mooch gets his testing done. That reviewer is a trusted source in the flashlight community. I know mooch is testing chargers now and when he has results I will tell people to check his information. I don’t want to step on toes here but currently the lygte site is the only charger reviews I’ve found.

The Opus and the Luc are fine chargers, but I prefer the Nitecore. I have two D4s and an I4 at home and work, plus a two cell and a one cell I use for travel. My car battery charger is an Xtar VC2. I have a VC4 as well, but I don't use it any more. The reason I prefer the Nitecore over the Xtar is the Nitecore is built to run on mains voltage, while the Xtar is powered by low voltage using a wall-wart type transformer. That's great if you want to move it from home to car to boat to plane to the EU (or anyplace else using 220V mains voltage); all you need is the appropriate power cord and all is well. With a Nitecore, you have to buy a new charger for each regimen or use a transformer to get to 120, 60Hz. But, I have noticed, the Xtar will glitch if the mains voltage wobbles a bit (as they all do in Texas, what with the air conditioners popping on and off), and stop charging. No real harm done, but I find it annoying. For some reason, my VC2 does not do this in the car.

The Luc V4 (or V6) are also well thought of, and they charge really fast as they can maintain a full amp on all slots. I won't buy one because they are marketed by Efest, and I don't like them (not for anything to do with the charger). Still, very good chargers by reputation, and the folks who have them swear by them. The Opus does have extra bells and whistles, but I find I don't use them. Perhaps you would be different than I about this.
