Hi Vets,

first off apologies if this has been posted or in the wrong section, as i believe this should be the right thread..

On to my question:

- Charging 18650 AW 3.7v battery on a trustfire charger which has a switch to toggle between 3.0v & 3.6v (its on 3.6v)
-> Does this mean that my AW batt will only be charged at 3.6v max?

- Charging on my friend's trustfire lcd charger, the display will say 4.2v is full charge.
-> again my query here is, will the same battery be over-charged at 4.2v?

Thoughts and comments are appreciated, sorry for the noob question, im picking up the pace :blush:

I strongly recommend getting a better and safer charger. I use Nitecore Intellicharge I2, or get an I4 if you charge a lot of batteries at once; you can get a great deal for Nitecore on fasttech. Other good chargers are Xtar and Pila (Pila is a bit overpriced, IMO).

Trustfire chargers are not very good, unfortunately.

Batteries and chargers are important for us to take seriously in vaping. Doing something wrong with these can be quite unsafe. Always ask if you have any doubts, noob or experienced :thumb:

To answer your questions, yes use the 3.6v setting. Your battery is called 3.7v but it will be very close to 4.2v when properly charged. As it's used the voltage drops. In use it will spend most of it's life around 3.7v which is why it says that on it. Most PVs will shutdown when battery voltage drops to about 3.2 to 3.4v and you have to charge again.

I agree with Katya, this is not a very good charger. Someone at CPF did testing and a review of it here. Those guys know their stuff.

It's slow. He found a 2600mAh battery takes about 17 hours to charge when pretty much drained. He also found that the charger does not completely shut off when the charge is complete, so don't leave batteries in it for long after they are finished charging. He didn't mention it in the review, but I see on the charts that battery voltage goes a bit over 4.2v. That will reduce the number of charges you will get from your batteries.

I would not use this charger. If you do use it don't leave it charging unattended, put it on a non-flammable surface and be careful to take the batteries out when they are finished charging. These things are all good practice with every charger, but in this case more important.

I would buy a better charger ASAP and keep this one for a spare.
