Battery Heating Up?

I have a Grand Vapor Private V2 (The Real One). Recently, the battery would start heating up rapidly and wouldn't fire if I screw the mod down securely. Though if I left it a little unscrewed so it wiggled a bit it would work fine. I'm using protected Ultrafire 18650 batteries and it's not just a certain battery, it does the same thing with different size and brands of batteries. I have no idea what's going on. Please Help!

Ummm....more info please.

A protected battery usually has over-amp cut out. So if there was a short or some condition that over heats the battery, it should cut out if it's protected. It shouldn't heat up. Usually anything over two or three amps causes it to cut out.

Yet, the description of the problem you gave indicates a short or partial short from screwing down the connector too hard.

Some delivery devices have a longer center stem and can wreck the connector on the battery side of cranked down too much.

Then there's the ohms. What delivery device is it and what ohm coils do you have/make?

Are you sure it's a protected battery?

Quit using the mod until you figure this out. Get a multimeter so you can run some tests. That's a mech mod so you should be able to test it.

Personally I'd contact the Vendor but...

As of July 7 they posted on their FB page that they acknowledge the problem and are working on a fix:

Here's someone that had the same issue- can't post the link cuz it's wordpress:
"As you may already know, some have been encountering issues with the spring action on the Grand Vapor Private v2 which has resulted in misfires, stuck buttons, and overheating. The stock spring is too weak. Even after stretching it out, the spring loses its strength after about a day or so of use.
Grand Vapor is working on sending out stronger replacement springs to solve this issue; but if you’re impatient like me and want to fix the problem now, here’s how to do it.

Go to your nearest hardware store and head towards the spring section. I picked up one of these.

The 1/2″ outside diameter of the spring was a little too big for the button groove. I’d recommend getting a smaller diameter spring, maybe 7/16″ or even a little smaller.

Assemble it back onto the bottom section of the body. I had to lengthen the throw a bit in order for the pin to make contact with the battery. It will not sit flush when you push it in. Small trade-off for a consistent vape.
