I got two efest imr18650 2250 mAh batteries for my VTR after the battery I started with (same everything, but 2000 mAh) was out of stock at my local and several websites I checked. As far as I could tell this was a recommended battery with the same dimensions but they are actually a hair longer and fit a lot more snugly to the point that I have a little trouble getting the compartment open again once they're in. Am I at risk for damaging anything by using these batteries? Where did I go wrong when choosing these?

Thanks for any advice you can give!

It has been reported that the iTaste VTR is "choosy" about battery lengths of the 18650 batteries required. It has a low tolerance of battery dimensions. I believe Grimm Green reported this in one of his videos, too.

To my knowledge, the 2000 mAh IMR batteries made by AW and Efest will fit the VTR just fine. The higher mAh batteries, which often have slightly larger dimensions to pack more "chemical" in them to get the higher mAh capacity may not fit.

You didn't necessarily go wrong, you just didn't know beforehand of the VTR's fussiness in battery selection. Blame Innokin for their design. I'm sure that Innokin is now aware of this issue and they should at the very least provide a list of recommended batteries which will fit in the VTR.

I recently purchased a VTR along with a AW 18650 2000mah IMR which fits perfectly & I also purchased an Efest 18650 2250mah IMR which also fits but I find it is a bit of a tighter fit but not enough to damage the device, out of the 2 I do prefer the fit of the AW & most likely will stick to them in the future, hope this helps
