battery light on until contact w/ atty??

I noticed the last few times I went to change my dse801 batts
the (red) light was on - not blinking - on constantly while in the charger.
when I first put it on to charge, it does the couple of (red) blinks then goes off.
not sure when during the charge that it lights up, but it stays on even off the charger until I screw it into the atty.
???
these batteries were a week old on monday.

why do you suppose this is happening?

Call supplier support for assistance and check for heat. If in doubt, return to supplier.
