Hello fellow vapers!

About 2 weeks ago I became the proud owner of a smok alien Baby. While I don't consider myself to be a heavy vaper, I do vape every day off and on for about thirty minutes. I tend to empty a full tank in 1 to 2 days.

A few days ago I noticed that my battery which would be fully charged in the morning when I leave for work would be drastically low when I get home. I vape for a few minutes while I'm waiting for the bus to and from work, and for about 10 minutes (give or take) while at home. The screen shows the battery power fluctuate between puffs. By the time I get home it'll read 50% and with one puff it will go down to 30%, then back up to 50 again. About 10 or so puffs later it's showing the low battery sign. However, when I put baby on the charger the battery will say 80% and say fully charged within a few minutes. Until I unplug it, then it'll show half full again.

With that being said. Could there something wrong with my vape, or is it the battery?... Or could I be using it way more than it's supposed to be used?

The batteries certainly could be the problem, and it never hurts to have an extra set. If this doesn't work, try contacting the store to explain. I had an Alien that had trouble consistently reading ohms, and was allowed to return it.

Since the power is fluctuating in addition to draining quickly, and it says it's fully charged more quickly, something is definitely not functioning properly. Also, a fair amount of people on here vape quite a bit, it doesn't seem like like that's the issue, with those two problems happening. And it seems like if it was, then the battery would just drain, not show a fluctuation. Good luck!

It's a Samsung 18650 3.7volt. I live in Atlanta, Ga. The guy at the shop I got the kit from installed it brand new. Would it wise to buy another battery just in case?

There should be no problem if that is a genuine Samsung 25R and I am not blaming your shop as they too can end up with some re-wraps. Since a second battery is an inexpensive option and it is always good to have a spare to drop in the mod as needed, you might pick up a Sony or LG (with a plastic case :D) from a reputable vendor and give that a try.

I am just guessing here, but it sounds like you only have the one battery. If so, I am also guessing that you are charging through the mod and perhaps vaping with it plugged in? Is the cable plugged into a wall wart or a computer? Is that when you are seeing the battery fluctuations?

I am not a proponent of onboard charging (even though it is an option) or using it while connected. If you are liking vaping and plan on continuing, get that second battery and go through a cycle using the mod unplugged. If and when it all works fine then, pick up an external battery charger and you should be good to go. You should then always have a fully charged battery ready when needed and can vape while charging the drained one.

And please do not forget the battery case if you want to carry the extra battery with you!

Thanks for advice. Yes, I charge through my mod; but no, I don't vape while it's on the charger. I use a surge protector as well.

This is the first time I've ever heard of rewrapped batteries. Isn't that kind dangerous?

Not too sure what else I can say... Um, it's a green Samsung 18650-25R 3.7v 2500mah.
The 25r is a good battery, safe up to about 65w on the Al85. As long as your battery is authentic your problems shouldn't be due to it.

Its dangerous when its in a mechanical mod and you think you have more amps available.

Dangerous on a regulated mod as well. It's always bad to exceed the capabilities of a battery, and that can be done on a regulated mod as well.
