So I've had my M40x for about a week and a half now, and I constantly use it. Problem is.. on my 402 battery, and sometimes on my 401, when I take a drag the light will go out and stop powering the atty. I noticed yesterday that it was starting to get a little more difficult to drag on the PV, no matter which atty I used.
I use a constant pressure and a primer puff, yet it still goes out. A fully charged batt won't do it as often, but once I start getting around 50% or so of the average life it starts acting up. I used to use a battery until it blinked, but now i have to change and charge more often.
I drip about 4 or 5 drops, or dip. I dont use carts. I have noticed that the top of the battery will be wet, but not so much to drain into the battery, or at least I dont think so.

Am I flooding the battery? Both batteries starting to go bad after a week and a half?

Ya know.. I think you have a point. I do clean them all the time with paper towels, but I got to looking at the battery and the center post has a lot of black buildup around the outside. Perhaps they are shorting?

Yes it is very possible that the juice is shorting across your batt leads. I would make sure that your unit is a sealed unit before dripping anymore or use two or three drops rather than four. If your unit is not sealed.. it is most likely that the company provides that dripping voids its warrantee, so that would be worth checking out.
I do the same thing with my SD and have no problems. I drip two drops on the bridge and three to four drops in my cart .. then, I am good to go.

If you get a little liquid build up between the positive (centre) contacts of the batt/atty that can also create the problem, You can try and gently pull those centre contacts out a little bit with a paper clip and maybe that'll give you better contact as you hopefully have more surface area in contact and therefore less space for the juice to migrate too.

Seems to me that you have 2 problems

Which just seems like you're activating the cut out. Are you taking overly long drags when this happens? (that said I have one or 2 batteries that are overly sensative & seem to cut out before the 5 second mark so that could be it) &

Which does sound like dirty contacts.

It cuts out after one second. I got ahold of the supplier and he says its probably been flooded. Oh well. I needed an excuse to buy more batteries, and now I can take apart the battery to use for a mod. :D

Dip, don't drip, and you'll save yourself a lot of grief- make sure you just get the bridge into the juice and not the atty body ( found out the hard way). A bottle cap works good to make a little puddle of juice in for dipping. A little vodka on a q-tip helps with cleaning the battery, I squeeze a little in the center hole, suck it out and let battery dry before using, brought one of my manual bats back this way after juice build-up got the switch stuck on8-o
