Hi
I feel like I have been reading for days but I am still so confused.

I thought I would start with a KR8 which seems to get good reviews and I like the size. From what I read it seems like the manual is better.

I don't understand the battery options. I only have an iPad so I will not be using a USB connection. What do I actually have to buy to be sure I have charged batteries. I thought I would start easy with the prefilled since the filling the carto has me nervous too.

So..if I buy the started kit for the KR8 what else do I need.

Appreciate the help

Xl or mega battery option would mean a battery that is about 1" longer, has more run time between recharges, a 380 mAh capacity compared to a standard 808 battery 280 mAh capacity.

A full starter set should say it comes with a wall power supply. Ask the vendor if it isn't clear.

Prefilled can make starting simpler. Most people around here fill their own after a bit, it is cheaper and lets you sample different cartos and flavors, but anything to simplify the change is nice.

Good luck! 808 was my first pv, decent equipment.

Suggest going for the xl or mega batteries, else a pcc, and probably 3 batteries.

The reason is run time, don't want to be stuck without a working battery.

Next time you order, if happy with your gear, buy a backup charger. No need for a spare power supply, your ipad or phone supply should be a normal usb, plenty of mA output for a normal usb pv charger.

If you check out YouTube, there are lots of videos on how to fill your cartos. It's not as bad as you think. Check them out, because down the line, the prefilleds just aren't going to do it for you. If you search 'filling carto' you will get tons of hits back.
I was hesitant to get them too, but after 3 weeks of filling my cartridges ever few vapes, I ordered some. They are a lot easier than you think.

Good luck!

Welcome the the Forum! Are you dead set on buying little batteries? The overwhelming majority of folks that have been here for some time moved past the little batteries pretty quickly. You can save some $ and a step in the normal learning curve by starting with batteries that have a minimum rating of 650 mAh

Thanks again everyone
As far as I can see my Ipad does not have a usb port - wondering if I get the camera connector if I can then use that port?

I did look at youtube and notice three different ways to fill. Some drip it in but it looks difficult to pull out the top part, I noticed others just put the liquid in the condom and press it down - is this a doable solution cause that sounds easy.

Thanks, female and I smoke about a pack of day Marlboro gold

Many females prefer the simple cartos & refilling is easy. On some the carto end comes off & liquid can be dripped in so refill is easy.
The smaller the batteries the more they need to be charged. The KR808D-1 should come w/ 280/300mAh batteries which is the minimum you should start with. The longest battery ones would be better for 'pack a day'.
Some use a wired passthrough.

Some will say you should start w/ 'fat' battery models like a small cigar such as eGo which is what I started with 'pack a day' & each battery only needs charged 1 per day as 2 batteries last the 24 hr day.

There is another new option that is only about 1/16" thicker than the KR8 280/300mAh batteries, the Elite 808 that runs about 2x as long the std. KR8 280/300mAh batteries.

Not the ipad itself, but the ipad probably has a normal wall wart charger with a usb connector. Likewise if you have a modern cell phone, most of them have a normal usb charger wall wart.

Top filling a cartos is easy if you use normal boge, or v4l, or other cartos. Most of the cartos have a simple rubber plug at the mouth end, ready to pop out with a paperclip, fork tine, tack, ...

If you like the cig form factor, nothing wrong with 808, though the batteries only run a handful of hours between charges. I know long term vapers who still stick with 808, it does what they want.

A cheap 808 intro is the little vapornine nebula starter kit. For $8 it has a standard 808 auto battery, 2 prefilled menthol or tobacco cartos, and a charger. No power supply, you would need to use a pc usb or another usb wall wart power supply; if you don't have any power supply, just check a local best buy or staples, the cheapest usb wall wart power supply should still have enough output for a normal 808 charger (anything rated 150 mA or greater will work).

At the price of a pack of cigs each, You could buy a couple of these little kits to test out vaping. These particular cartos are very easy to refill. This is also a pretty cheap way to see if the run time of a standard size 808 is acceptable given you would need to carry a couple of batteries.

For additional prefilled cartos, you can get them from vapornine or use any kr808d-1 cartomizer.

Good luck!

The Elite 808 sounds good for me. I don't want a wire passthrough. I am not too concerned about cost to begin since I am now smoking a pack a day at $10 per pack!! Yikes - so - to get started I won't consider cost to be an issue - as I learn the ropes I can start saving money and perhaps my life:)
Thanks
Correct! I think the Elite type will help you a lot. The KR808D-1 cartos fit on it which makes it smaller.

I got black here. THE ELITE 808
White, Blue & Red here. KR808-DM1 Kit

Welcome aboard.

*lol* about filling the cartos. Sorry about laughing but it's sort of like taking the training wheels off a bike as a kid. It seems a lot more complicated than it it. Once you do it once or twice you'll be smacking yourself on the forehead.

If you're not concerned about it looking and feeling like a cigarette I'd suggest going with something like an eGo. You get a lot more life out of the battery.

The big thing is to take the plunge. Other than some of the mods, any pv you will come up with is going to cost no more than 1 carton of cigs, so it doesn't have to be a long term commitment to stick with one model.

Make sure to get enough prefilled cartos or eliquid so you don't run out right away. Typical for a lights smoker is 16 - 18 mg/ml strength, while some may need 24 mg/ml and others only need 12. Full strength smokers, say marl reds, would often use 24. A run of the mill prefilled carto is maybe about 10 cigs equivalent worth of vaping, before it needs to be refilled outre changed.

There are a few ways to fill a carto. The condom method and the drop method are the two I use the most (mostly the drip).

I'll keep one of the condoms on the bottom (where the screw threads are), and drop some drops of juice around the sides of the carto (try to keep as much as you can out of the center hole). It'll have a layer of that isn't socked in. Let it sit for a few seconds. Take a few sips of coffee, pet the cat, whatever. Drip some more in. Lather rinse repeat for a bit till the filler material doesn't soak any more juice in.

Sounds more complicated than it is. I was all leery about it when I started too. But if I can do it before having my first cup of coffee in the morning than anyone can do it :).

Also if you are handy with a solder gun you might check out Mad Vapes for their box kits. They are under $20 but you have to put them together yourself, buy batteries, and a charger. All totaled under $40, but you need some things like a soldering iron and some study hands.

Another cheap mod is the Puck. The plans are here, you can use rechargeable batteries from any wal-mart or such..... Thing is for the puck you'd need to get a connector to make it work with 510 cartos.

Be good to try one of them before you head up to something like ProVari or other mod. Just to get your feet wet without spending you pay check.

I have had a good experience with auto batteries. If you're just starting out, try the kits that are like analogs. They are reasonably priced and have helped alot of people switch from analogs. You can get a bigger battery later if you think you need it.

The recomendations for larger batteries often come from experienced people here that already know e-cigs work for them. It's much easier (in my opinion) for someone new to e-cigs to use what they are familiar with.
