I was pointed to a very disturbing post here in ECF. Basically, the post is about one of the veterans in ECF doing a check on some nicotine base purchased from a company. The post can be found here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...on-we-have-problem-nic-titration-results.html and is worth a read. All credit goes to Kurt, the poster, for his work in testing it and bringing this issue to our attention.

Basically, what he had found was the nicotine content in the nic base did not match the label. Most were higher than the label, while one of the samples was even 2.7 times higher than claimed. In this case, it was a 100mg nic base that had 272mg nicotine content. If you had intended to make 18mg diy juice out of it, you would have made yourself some 48mg juice. If you had made 36mg, you would have gotten some 96mg juice. Even getting some of this 272mg stuff on your skin will make you pretty sick....don't know if it will kill, but it's not good.

For the DIY liquid people out there in bolehland....please don't take this in the wrong way. This is just to educate, and to highlight that there is stuff like this happening, and we should make sure of the quality of the materials we are using so we can mix and vape safely.

Latest news on this is that the supplier highlighted in the test has issued a recall for all nic base sold between May to August 2011. As this supplier sells to some of the more popular online sellers, who in turn sell to their end-user customers, this will potentially involve lots of customers.

To put this in perspective...some of these suppliers get their nicotine base in very very high concentrations, then they thin it down to the mg that you want. If this is not done correctly, or if they accidentally use the wrong base to start with, what they finally send out is either going to be lower in nic content, or higher (and potentially dangerous). Once this nic base gets to the online sellers, who in turn sell to us as end customers....we may accidentally mix up a batch of ultra-high nicotine content juice. I don't have to say much about how nicotine is actually a poison in large quantities, it's been documented and easily googled. Suffice it to say that if we were not aware, we could be sucking on something that could get us very very sick....or touch some of that ultra-high nicotine and basically get sick too.

Be aware....and hope that others in bolehland have not gotten some of this stuff in the recent months.

Hi Mafig. I doubt that the china outlets took stock from this company, called Box Elder, as they are based in the United States, if not mistaken, and china outlets have even bigger suppliers that do business in China supplying the resellers and wholesalers. The ones you should worry about are US based nicotine base resellers and wholesalers, as well as US based e-liquid makers who happened to have sourced their nic base from Box Elder.

Thx Jack for sharing this... I'm 100% on DIY now... personally, i would be very worried handling nic at 50mg and above, 272mg is is just insane for DIYers to handle without proper tools ..

mafig, if not mistaken your eliquid bottles is from those ce2 manufacturer/seller .. as far as i know their dekang never go higher than 36mg...

It is very worrying, as the 272mg is a good indicator. Imagine if you had 36mg nic base, and you wanted to make some 18mg DIY juice. Basically, if you used that 272mg nic base which had been mistakenly labeled as 36mg, you would have gotten yourself some 136mg DIY juice.

the 1/2 kg top 1 is for myself..the bottom i bought for friends..so far i dont have any issue on the liquid as i DIY with mine..yes now eliquid max is 36mg..but when i got mine,i think it is higher, like 48mg..i do dilute down to 18-12 mg with mine..just hope its correct dosage what i meant it to be..this time might be ok..i am weary on China products like tainted milk, faked eggs & now e-liquids..what next?..that is why i always prefer to buy western goods but then the 510-titan(my avatar) the kit "made in China" i bought in UK from TW..so seeing that i bought everything from China online(for its the cheapest and so far so good..just hope nothing unto-warding happens..since now i know of the ....-up with the e-liquid made there..Chinese in China as traders worries me :( as a malaysian chinese,I am..times like this..i might revert back to analogs..takes yrs to get killed...while tainted e-liquid could be yr last vape, perioddddddd
