Been creeping around for info, but I must welcome myself to this wonderful forum first! Best way to get wick into coil?

Good day to all!! I hope your most recent puff was a pleasure! Been vaping for 18 months and finally (hands in too many cookie jars!) had an opportunity to attempt coil building. Grabbed a KK Vapetek coil jig and ohm meter. The coils are a snap, getting the wick in on the other hand....? I have taped wick to paper clip to draw through the coil after already on atomizer. But I can't seem to get a thick enough wick through. My next idea is to build, test ohm, remove then put in wick and attempt to tigthen the wraps. The tensile strength of the formed wire seemed it may make that technique challenging.

What are the methods the pros use?!?

I also have a shop for those in seacoast of NH, USA - all levels of gear, feel fre to contact me, but not advertising here, unless there is a spot on this site to do such a .

I use cotton as my main wicking media and it is very easy to work with. I simply roll one end then thread it through the coil. I gently hold the coil in place and thread the rest through by carefully pulling it through. You don't want it too thick or too thin. Judge by the coil size. I mostly use bottom fed tanks. If I'm using a top fed and need to wick downward into the tank itself I will use a piece of kanthal wire to work the media into the tank once I've slipped it through the coil. If I am using silica and it's difficult to thread I will take some stainless steal wicking media and roll it on the end of the silica tightly then thread the s.s.mesh point end through the coil then once it slides through I remove the mesh. This method works beautifully. Hope this helps. Best wishes

I forgot to mention, if I'm wrapping the coil around the silica itself I will insert a pin into the silica to give it strength to wrap on. This method works well for me because the pin does not take up much room yet it provides the strength needed to wind the coil on. Again hope this helps.
