sorry just need to vent. i got sick around the beginning of the month.. i decided it was a good time to stop smoking cigarettes again, and i attribute that to why i was sick for literally 2 whole weeks.... come Thanksgiving.. i probably drank too much and chain smoked cigarettes with a bunch of good friends i haven't seen in a while.. just to get sick AGAIN. i couldn't believe it.. but now it feels more like bronchitis...

so i finally went to the doctor 2 days ago and am on 2 different antibiotics.. prednisone and some other one.. and i mean..my mucus has turned clear but that's really it.... as far as my wheezing, breathing, coughing, and thickness of my phlegm.. it's like nothing has changed still... and just feels like i'm going to be sick for friggin forever.... this second time around when i got sick, i haven't even touched an ecig.. just been using nicotine gum.....

when you guys converted to vaping, have any of you gotten sick for this long???? i had bad asthma as a kid but i started smoking at a young age.. maybe like 15? and i'm 29 now... and i guess i'm just wondering if i really have a crappy immune system.. or were my lungs so bad that it's really taking me a month to clean it out? or what....

it's almost a month now and it's just ridiculous.. i'm getting unmotivated, lazy, and getting friggin fat just sitting around at home all month.. sigh

ps - sorry for the rant

It takes a while for your body to heal after smoking, and with your complications it can be worse. I had the affects of a flu when I quit starting a few days after quitting cigarettes. Then my body got aches and pains and I felt tired and sleepy, all normal effects of the withdrawals from all the other 4000 ingredients in cigarettes. Most people who quit smoking go thru that phase and many go back to smoking because they felt worse than when they smoked. Im glad you went to the doctor. The length of time for lung recoop and regeneration all depends on age, health of your lungs and how long you smoked and how many packs a day you smoked. Drink a lot of water. Dont push yourself take some long walks and before you know it you will feel better.

I've had bronchitis a few times. Luckily it's been a long time since the last time I had it, but it did take a real long time for my body to get over it even once I finished all of the antibiotics. Sorry you have felt bad but sometimes it takes a long time to recover from Bronchitis. Keep vaping and avoid the cigs! I used to have horrible post nasal drip when I smoked, and I smoked for a little over 30 yrs. I don't have that anymore and no longer use any nasal spray. I'm so much better off than I used to be.

Ask your doctor but my grandmother was a nurse and taught us that lying down is horrible for lungs, sitting is not ideal, slow movement and frequent short walking (even if just to do dishes and laundry) keep the lungs going properly and keep the lymph system flushed out. Toxins from disease-fighting need to get carried away from tissues via the lymph system, but the lymph circulation system is powered by muscle movement, not by your heart. (Not muscle-movement like running and weight-lifting. It is muscle movement like walking around the house or the block and doing various lightweight chores that require the gentle use of a lot of different muscles, for balancing, picking things up, reaching, standing up, sitting down, etc.)

Last time someone gave my Mom prednisone along with antibiotics it was because she had (mild but troublesome) asthma in addition to an infection.

Also ask your Dr. if you need expectorant. The pills do not work for me, I have to get either guaifenesin syrup or the children's powder packets. Normal adult dose is less than what some doctors recommend if you're having bronchitis. Expectorants do NOT work unless you are very very well-hydrated. They work by pulling water from your bloodstream to add to the mucous, so the extra water has to be there. They are over-the-counter or prescription depending on dose.

Since vaping is dehydrating, I'd avoid it for now unless it's the only way to avoid combustion cigarettes.

It's the touch of asthma. Your lungs need help to rid itself of the phlegm. The cough syrup for asthma has a stimulant in it which helps that. Take the max dose decongestants. It will actually help dry your lungs out. It does take a lot of time sometimes. Depends on the bug that grew in you. 2 months is not uncommon. Drinking coffe helps you help yourself. You just have weak lungs. Be nice to them! I hear ya. SICK of being SICK! Since you already did the antibiotics to cover the complications. Bronchitis complicated by asthma. No harm in going to the doc for something heay duty man
