Lots of very good information here already but thought I'd add my own just for the heck of it :)

I had tried some of the cheep gear as well (haven't most of us) and found it a great waste.

After many months of research and with a bit of help from other ECF members I finally committed to buying an E-Go T system from HealthCabin.com. That was almost 9 months ago and I haven't regretted it one single day as it was the tipping point that let me drop the analogs for good after close to 40 years as a smoker.

The setup I selected was a bit high end with 2 1000mah batteries but after the dismal results of the cheep gear I intended to do it right. I also added in a 1000mah passthru (USB).

The only problem I have experienced was a bit of minor leakage after a tank had been used for several months straight. This was easily cured with the more rubbery replacement caps for the tanks and made refilling the tanks much easier as well.

As I am a home body for the most part so I almost never use the regular batteries. I attach the passthru to my lanyard when I'm up and about (last almost the full day it needed) or taking short trips into town and just plug it back in whenever I'm back at my computer or favorite reading chair. Can't recommend a good passthru enough, no fussing with battery chargers or anything, just plug it back in when it's convenient and you never to interrupt your vaping.

AS for the cost of atomizers I have been fairly lucky to find them on sale in the $7-$9 usually, and I buy several months worth at a time. I am looking at the new eGo type C atomizers (replaceable core) for my next purchase as they seem to be consistently at around the $5 mark but would like to hear some feedback about them first.

As for where to get juice, I confess I decided to learn to mix my own, I like controlling everything from the flavor to the strength to the balance of pg/vg in my mix. I does take a bit of experimenting but I find the results very rewarding. I you want to go this route eventually I'd recommend OneStopDIYshop.com, they are one of the most helpful shops I have had the pleasure of doing business with (especially for new DIYers).

Hope this information is helpful

Hey Vclouds. I have an ego c and I love it. However, to upgrade you're going to need the cone and atomizer base as well as the atomizers. As you know, the tips do wear out eventually as well. You might consider getting a few stardusts instead. They go right on your ego battery. The atomizer, tank and tips are all part of the unit, they're pretty much leak-proof and hassle free and they're only $5, which is the price of an ego c atomizer. A big bonus is that if you're so inclined, you can rebuild the coil and wick on them instead of throwing them out when they burn out. It's cheaper than an upgrade and better in my opinion. I bought a 5 pack of atomizers and 3 stardusts which came in on Friday. Guess which one I'm using.

I checked out Discount Vaper.. Thanks so Much They have the Best Prices Yet, But weird Payment Meathods..
I know it's a little bit different but I found it worth the little bit of extra time it takes to pay. Eric seems to be a very honest, up-front, and friendly person. I like the way he is doing business- 100% about customer satisfaction. On his website he has a notice about the payment system...

Over the last month or so we have continually run into payment issues, with every option we try shutting us down for being an "ecig retailer"..... If you are hesitant because of payment options, please do not be, we have not had one issue ever with payments or methods and if we ever do they will be immediately rectified. Please take a moment to check out our thread on ECF if you are unsure of purchasing from us.

Based on the dealings I have had with him for the 7 orders over 2 months now, I think you will find him an excellent vendor.

That looks like a very nice kit you purchased. I hope you will be happy with it. Be attentive while charging your batteries- don't let them sit in the charger after they finish charging. If the plastic wrapper around the battery gets torn or scratched, replace it. Don't be scared of them, but these batteries need to be respected as they contain a lot of energy.

By the way, you might want to try a Vision eGo Clearomizer aka "Stardust" cartomizer some time- they work very well.
Cheers.

Thanks for the information and yes I did know about needing the cone.

As for the "Stardust" it looks like a well built model (I may try it someday), but I tried a similar tank with the top mount coil and found the vapor to be hot to the mouth and the flavor change significant. Also the mix I use is a bit thick at 50/50 vg/pg and it has shown to not wick very well in most cartos but I still experiment from time to time so this goes on my list of possible experiments.

Thanks

We've all been there. I don't think you can do much better for the money right now than an eGo-C kit. You will have to clean and refill the tanks, but depending on how much you vape, you'll probably only need a couple a day. Unlike with cartos, you will use ALL the liquid, and they're much easier to clean.

A good eGo battery will likely last most (if not all) day. I keep a bunch (literally 50 or so) tanks in rotation so I can clean them in bulk and fill them in bulk, so that I don't have to deal with them every day.

I don't think you can really go terribly wrong with any of the eGo, KGO, Janty, or any of those (which are all very similar), but I have had good luck with the eGo-C in particular. I think you're looking around $80 for two batteries, two housings, five atties and five tanks at most places.

Best of luck, and don't give up! There's better out there when you're ready!

I like my ego-c kit too. Love how the attys are easy to clean and swap out. A 3.5 ml tank with lr carto is key for all day vaping. I got a Bolt recently and love it. They are so cheap $38 with battery.(fits in the palm of your hand, just the carto or tank sticks out)

I'm sorry but I don't understand how you can say you can't do much better for the money. $80 for an eGo-C is ridiculous. Especially when you can buy buy an Epower from Sweet-Vapes for $41.95, or a kGo for $43 from Sweet-Vapes, Hoosier, or DarkCity. That's basically half the price, with better battery life and 3.7V instead of 3.3-3.4V.
If your happy spending that then that's all that matters, but personally I'd much rather spend that extra $40 on a 180ml bottle of juice from BlueMist and a pack of Ressurector cartos from CCV.

I got the kit you were sugessting and a passthrogh NoW i just have to wait for it.. thanks ROB

I totally agree about Eric's commitment to customer satisfaction; bought a few items from him 2 or 3 months ago, had a problem with one (leaking plastic -omiser carto I'd never tried before). Logged into my email acct. to send him a message about it and Eric had already sent ME one! He'd had some complaints on these & let me know he'd make 'em good.

As to using the eGo Stardust cartos on an E-Power, I'm not sure this will work without a short 510 - 510 adapter. *Some* of these "made especially for eGo" cartos, etc. have skirt-like things that go down where the cone would otherwise go (I think), and an eGo is not quite as big around as an E-Power. The adapter (again, I *think*) would be needed to raise the carto enough so the skirt would not prevent the battery/carto from making an electrical connection.

(I haven't ever seen an eGo or eGo-specific cartos in real-life(?) so if I'm wrong about this someone please correct me. And don't worry about making me look like an idiot; I can assure you, my appearing so will be through no fault of yours. From the photos though it appears the small, carto-to-battery threading is recessed a bit up the outer skirt of the carto.)

I really hope this makes sense to somebody. Happy Vaping! :toast: :vapor:

There are mega and XL sized cartos available that are built like the Boge you're using.
Remember, you shouldn't let the carto get very dry that you are refilling it. You should just add a few drops now and then. That's where the drip tip comes in handy.

Why isn't your eGo mega dual carto not working on your passthrough? What's it doing or not doing. It should work. If it works with a battery and not the passthrough, it's almost certainly a problem with the passthrough. Probably not able to handle the current. A V2 doesn't draw much current, but your new rig will.

What are you plugging your passthrough into? Whatever it is, it needs to be able to handle 2 to 2.5 Amps. It could be that your mega is trying to draw too much current because it's a lower resistance.

Anyway, I'm happy you got a proper kit!! It'll make a huge difference for you.

The eGo is okay, but there are def better PVs now that are "eGo type" PVs. Check out the E-Power and kGo.
The eGo was great last year because there was nothing else like it, but now I personally dont see any benefit of getting an eGo over something like an E-Power, kGo, or Riva.
The E-power and kGo are both 3.7V PVs, while the eGo is only 3.3-3.4V. 3.7V PVs provide alittle more "oomph" and more importantly handle the lower resistance cartos a lot better than an eGo does. The E-Power and kGo both have really good battery life, and are the same price, if not cheaper, then most vendors sell the eGo for.
I have an E-Power and love it. The main difference between the E-power and kGo/eGos is that the E-power uses non-proprietary batteries, which are removable. E-Power batteries cost $4-5 compared to kGo/eGo/Riva batteries that cost $14-20, and they last longer before they need to be replaced. The batteries are 1050mah and I get on avg a day to a day and a half on one battery. Also everything is replaceable on the E-Power, so its cheaper to maintain. All the parts on an E-Power can be bought seperately, so you dont have to buy a whole new unit everytime you need to replace a battery or a switch fails, like with an eGo/kGo. Sweet-vapes.com has a really good deal for the E-power, and you can get a kit with your choice of cartomizers for only $41.95.
The kGo is also a nice PV, even though it uses proprietary batteries. Tey batteries are 1100mah so they last a long time as well, and most people can get a full day from one battery. Hoosier Ecig Supply, DarkCity Vapor, and Sweet-vapes all sell the kGo for around $43, which is a good deal as well.

I think youd def be really happy with an E-Power or kGo. Their both cheaper than an eGo and personally I think their both def better than an eGo. If you do decide to get an eGo though, just get a regular one and use cartos. The eGo-T or eGo-C tanks suck and can be very finicky and leak. Plus they dull flavor and TH, even when they are working.
If you do get an E-Power or kGo, I recommend trying the 1.7ohm Ressurector cartos. They are designed for 3.7V PVs, like the E-Power and kGo, and they work awesome on both. They will also work on an eGo, but dont run at full potential since the eGo is only 3.3-3.4V. The Ressurectors give a nice warm vape and produce a LOT of vapor, and they hold 2ml of juice so they go a pretty long time between refills. And like someone else mentioned, down the line you could get a Smoktech 3.5ml tank and youd be able to go even longer between refills. The Smoktech tanks are dual coil tanks, but I think dual coils suck at lower voltages, so instead I use the Ressurectors and they work a LOT better.
Heres whay they look like: View attachment 85047
I like the 3.5ml tanks bc their big enough that I can fill them in the morning and vape all day without needing a refill, yet their still small enough that I can carry my E-power in my pocket with the tank on it.
Between the long battery life of an E-power or kGo, and a 3.5ml tank, you can vape all day completely maintanence free.

Little bump, because this post just plain deserves to be highlighted. In fact, it's so well-written and spot-on, it should be a sticky.

I have a warm spot in my heart for Joyetech, and I'm vaping an eGo-T as we speak, but my next buys are going to be E-power "power sources" (as I like to call them, until I can get a better name to catch on). After all, they're not really PV's, and "mod" just sounds dumb to me, and isn't very descriptive - but that's another thread). And I say "sources" because I want a relatively inexpensive but effective/satisfying/well-performing way of having like 5-10 flavors going at the same time, each with its own setup.

This place is amazing, and I think I've learned quite a bit. (Enough to believe that I might have a slight chance of not succumbing to that greatest addiction of all; that's right, I'm talking about .... (shudder) ... gear addiction). So I think the best bang-for-the-buck for me is going to be the e-power ... ummmm ..."engines"? ... "motivators"? .... all right, "mods" ... with a bunch of (Genuine Joyetech all rights reserved) eGo-C (three piece) atomizer assemblies of a suitable resistance. I do like the eGo tanks, since they work OK, don't leak (for me anyway .. well, not that much), are super convenient, and don't seem to have as much potential for eliciting a "what the hell is that thing?" response as clearomizers/big-... tanks/call them what you will. Of course, I'll end up getting a few of them as well, but probably mostly for home use.

Powerball is up to $290 million, so naturally, if I hit it please replace "e-power" with "ProVari", "Silver Bullet", Reo Grand", "Darwin", "Prodigy", AND "Zenesis", about 20 of each to start with.

Vape on, all. :)
