The wattage used and the low voltage cutoff determines battery amp drain rate as long as the result doesn't exceed the power devices input amp limit.
The amps displayed on the screen are output / from the 'chip' to the delivery device, that doesn't relate to input / from batteries to chip.

Just me, I tend to be conservative, 100w - 120w from a 2 cell power device using 20a CDR cells is about as high as I go.
Some folks use power settings above that, we all have to set our own comfort zone / saftey limits when using the cells we use.

yeah ive gone up to 60w now this is all the screen tells me. it has a low voltage cut off point not sure what it is cant find the answer
online.

Sorry, I shoulda splained moe betta.
The low voltage cutoff I mentioned is the voltage of the batteries when the power device stops firing.
Seems there is no set standard, outa all Ive owned they've ranged from 2.8v ~ 3.5v, most 3.1v - 3.36v
That is one reason when I calculate regulated power device battery amp drain I use 3v, kind of another saftey fudge factor.
Some power device do show battery voltage on the screen or have a way to check them, some don't.

so if i have 2 20a batteries does that give me 40a sounds a stupid question

The battery voltage at any given time throughout useful voltage range and the wattage you vape = amp drawn from batteries.
At the low voltage cutoff amp demand from batteries will be highest.
50w - 60w per 20a cell is as hard as I push cells.
I don't know how else to explain it in an easy to understand way.

But, this guy does --->Calculating battery current draw for a regulated mod | E-Cigarette Forum

sorry i am a noob if im running 2x 20a batteries does that mean the safest watt is 100w to 120w or still at 50-60w ?

50w - 60w per cell.
Your device uses 2 cells, so, 100w - 120w.

But, that is my comfort level / saftey zone,, some folks use higher wattage's using 20a CDR cells.
Everybody has to set their own comfort level / saftey zone when using the cells we use.

Didja read the link I provided?
He has 30 or so blog entries specifically dealing with / providing info about batteries & chargers.
Might browse through them to shed some light on areas that confuse you.

I've tried to help, I've given what I feel most would consider safe advice, you are welcome to use & abuse your batteries any way you chose.

If I was going to listen to anyone other than myself based on the results of the tests my crew performs on the very same cells we use it would be this guy ---> Mooch's blog | E-Cigarette Forum <--- this is a link,,, click on it.

If you look on the interwebz for safe sane advice you'll find someone that agrees with whatever it is you want to hear no matter how far from reality it is...
