Wow! They are smok Tech batteries, yes. smok Tech is the manufacturer of the e-power.

I've been using AW IMR 14500s in my 14650 E-Power (Made a spacer)

They perform much MUCH better than the stock 14650 (Smok Tech)... I haven't had any problems yet but the performance is out of this world with aw imrs

Would it not fit without the spacer? Thanks.

one more point about the AW batteries...

They DO make li-ion batteries that DO need protection. The red batteries are the high drain safe chemistry. The Li-ion batteries that AW make are black with a grey/silver sticker (sticker has a red stripe)

  1. Red cell, safe/unprotected
  2. Black cell, unsafe/protected
  3. Blue cell, unsafe/unprotected

I'm I correct that the AW IMR High Drain have a Lower Internal Resistance which makes them better for certain VVPV's?

Thank you sir :)

My Pleasure.

i am not sure about the internal resistance, but the high drains have a high discharge rate which suits well to the boost circuit in the provari. The voltage drop off is much slower than regular lithium ion batteries. The voltage stays almost constant until it is discharged then it drops off dramatically.

Thanks fray...

Sounds like they are a good choice for my Provari.

That darm Provari cost a fortune. It would be a Sin to not put a good battery in it.

No, it won't fit without a spacer (with the spring used in the stock e-power). You could get a bigger spring, and I think the NoEgo version of the e-power actually comes with a spring that can be stretched to fit both batteries.. but the stock spring with the e-power definitely does not fit 14500s

I had an 18490 go on me yesterday... and it HURT.

I had it in my pocket (always keep a spare, just in case), which I've been doing for over 6 months. I had a small keychain in my pocket, it happened to hit it just right. Still not sure how, as the chain is no wear near long enough to hit both ends, it was just on the bottom.

Felt this strange, warm, tingling in my leg. Reached in my pocket... HUGE shock and burning, quickly pulled my hand back out. Dumped my pocket quickly battery end looked almost like yours. 2nd degree electrical burn on my finger, hole in my pocket, and the plastic around one of my keys melted. Bottom of my Provari (was also in the pocket) has plastic melted to it now.

Needless to say I don't put my keychain (or anything) in the same pocket as the battery now.
I had a similar incident with an IMR 14500 battery- yeah, in my pocket- made contact with my spare change and about lost a nut- no kidding! I have learned never a bare battery in my pockets ever.... I use a battery carrier or case now!! These batts can heat up, and quickly!!

You got that right. The battery that caught fire started smoking within a second, literally. And the flame followed quickly behind. I'd say the battery was on the charger for no longer than 4 seconds. It stayed incredibly hot for several hours. I took it outside and sat it on the porch because I was afraid it was going to bust.

When I put batts in the same pocket as metal objects, I use a plastic ziplock baggy for the battery

Put my charger in a pan on concrete floor.

That's kinda funny because I thought about batteries and chargers last night when I went to sleep.

I've always charge my batteries on a desk that has a towel on it to protect the finish. Now I'm thinking how stupid that is if a battery melted down and caught fire.

I'm thinking that charging them in a Metal Pan isn't that bad of an idea.

I'm glad my misfortune has turned into a thread with a lot of great information.

That's what make's the ECF such a Cool place. The collective knowlage of all the members from both good and bad experiences.

I can't tell you how much information I have learned here and how much money I have saved buy not buying the wrong thing. This is why I try to urge people to support the ECF with Any type of Donation that they can.

Just a quick update... I got the replacement battery from my vendor this morning and all is well. I'm hesitant to mention the vendor because I don't want any negativity to be cast on them. This isn't something that was within their control and they took care of the situation for me.

Also, the 18650 in the EPower lasts forrrrrrevvvvvvver. I pulled it off the charger yesterday at 6:30am. I chain vape like crazy and it's still running strong.
