Hi folks

I'm new to this. Been a moderately heavy smoker since for near 15 years since i was a teenager. My first child is coming real soon so i have been on cold turkey from cigarettes. Kinda tough and learnt about e-cigarettes. Looking to learn more about it and hope it can help me quit smoking so as to see my child grow up. Also, saw first hand what smoking can do to my FIL.

cheers and looking to hear from like minded people here!

Hello and welcome to the forum @carpetgrass. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member @Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.

1. A Good Starter's Setup for a Beginning Vapor
2. Advancing Up the Vaping Ladder with Egos and Mods
3. Proper terminology - Is it a carto, a tank, or what? A Guide to Juice Attachments
4. Something Safe for Cinnamon and Citrus Flavors

And here is a great thread on terminology: Vaping slang and acronyms

Also check out this forum: SG Vapers. Make sure you read all the "stickies" as there are special rules you must follow when posting due to the sensitivity of vaping in Singapore. You won't be able to ask where to buy hardware/juice in SG as your government monitors/reads ECF forum posts. It's all explained in one of the "Newbe Q&A" stickies.

Regarding purchasing across the causeway <= link

Hello and welcome.
I smoked for thirty years and have cig free for four months now. I really feel vaping was a major reason that I was able to do it. I just stopped smoking and started vaping, with the help of a friend who is an avid vaper. My first setup, and really the one I like the best for every day all day vape is a simple Atlantis/ Istick 50 watt, its easy to use, small to carry and inexpensive as well.

good luck to you.

These days I think beginners willing to spend $80-90 should go right to temp control. Ten days ago I got a Kangxin mini with TC and it has been flawless. I think they are available in the low 40s and there must be others that do as well. I use rda's so I'm not familair with what tanks with nickel coils might be the best choice.

Welcome Carpetgrass!

Yes, ECF is a pretty grand place. Susan~S has hooked you up with some great starting information - especially the blogs by Baditude.

There are so many options these days - mechanical mods and cartomizers back in the earlier days; variable voltage/wattage topping out around 11-15W when I first started about 18 months ago. Now, it's hundreds of watts and temperature control.

I'm pretty simplistic with my vaping - I have mods that top out from 30-50W and use Nautiluses, Protanks and some Subtanks. I like cloud, but I want flavor more.

I always throw the following for consideration:
* Tube, Box, or Stick form?
* Internal or replaceable batteries?
* Tight airflow or loose draw?
* Do you want to build your own coils or do you want to pop them from a blister pack?

There are thousands of combinations available, but there is at least one that will be right for you!
